A magnificent kilim picture book for the tribal rug fanatic.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kilim: The Complete Guide, History, Pattern , Technique , Identification (Hardcover)
Gorgeous rugs. Gorgeous photographs. Lots of them. For people who love oriental rugs, especially funky tribal rugs, and for people who are demanding about the pleasure they expect from rug books--this book is a great find.

By A Customer
This review is from: Kilim: The Complete Guide, History, Pattern , Technique , Identification (Hardcover)
This is my favorite book on Flatweaves. It covers more than just kilims and is very comprehensive. If you are interested in any Flatweaves you should have this book. I use this book when I am trying to identify flatweaves and I find it a simple, user friendly, but comprehensive resource.

Great Reference Source For Antique Anatolian Kilims,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kilim: The Complete Guide, History, Pattern , Technique , Identification (Hardcover)
As lovers of 100% natural dyed antique Turkish Kilims, my wife and I have replaced several other books about carpets and kilims within our reference materials, and have also included this book. We are quite versed with a bias towards Anatolian [nomadic] kilims. Much of the data in this book is fairly comprehensive and useful. This book would certainly benefit someone that desires to learn or begin the quest or addiction for kilims. We actually know that there are a few notable kilim dealers in Istanbul and Antalya, Turkey that use this book and recommend it. One of the important keys for those into antique investment kilims [and fragments] lie with the ability to understand and recognize vegetable and root dyes... natural colors. Don't be fooled, motifs, patterns and designs are secondary to identifying color derivatives, wool quality and weaving techniques.

The Wary Reader,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kilim, The Complete Guide: History, Pattern, Technique, Identification (Paperback)
Overall this book is great to browse through, however I found the actual reading not what I was looking for. It did talk about the "meanings" and mysticism of the patterns which for the most part, if your looking to arm yourself with knowledge of pattern design this is the wrong method to go by. Anyone knows that even the most inexperience carpet dealer will discuss with you or tell you that latch and hooks are camel head representations and this means that the weaver was single and had a good family etc... all balarky. I give this book 2 stars for the great color plates and general weaving technique information.
