5.0 out of 5 stars Pathological Liar Turns Cold Blood Killer
Wow! This is the best of Robert Scott's true crime books. In this story of skilled pathological liar Todd Jesse Garton, readers are given an indept view into the working, manipulative mind of a text book narcissist; the only type who kill their loving, devote wife and unborn son (8 months gestation). A Scott Peterson, before that name was even famous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pathological Liar Turns Cold Blood Killer, July 22, 2006
This review is from: Kill or Be Killed (Mass Market Paperback)

Todd Garton used the information he obtained from movies and books to convince his friends that he was much more than he had ever been (or could have been). Once they fall prey to his tangled web, their lives are changed forever. Readers follow suspenseful tale of (1) Lynn Noyes, Garton's mistress and co-conspirator in the murders; (2) Normal Daniels, the friend coerced into murder; and (3) Dale Gordon, whose only "true" crime was knowing Garton. Because of the skillful lies and manipulations from Garton, all three of them currently pass time behind bars, hopefully awaiting parole in the future. Yet true justice came in the form of Garton spending the remainder of his life on death row at San Quentin.

Excellent reading. Emotion and thought provoking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual crime story, July 15, 2007
This review is from: Kill or Be Killed (Mass Market Paperback)
Carole Garton was murdered on May 16, 1998, at Redding, California. This book tells of the murder and the resulting trial. It does a good job of setting the scene and then tells of the trial, which illustrates the good job done by the prosecutor of a difficult case, since the defendant was not the guy who shot the victim five times, and in fact was not at the scene. This is a fascinating case and the story is well told in this book

4.0 out of 5 stars Some people will believe anything, September 8, 2006
This review is from: Kill or Be Killed (Mass Market Paperback)
This story is so unbelievably sad, not only because of the death of a promising young woman and her unborn baby, but also because of the wasted lives of three of the most gullible adults in the world who now sit behind bars.

Secret agent wannabe Todd Garton is somehow able to convince three other adults that he is part of an organized group of hired assasins. By enlisting their help, he comes dangerously close to killing one man, and then orchestrates the death of his own wife and unborn child.

I'm sure all three accomplices now sit in jail wondering how in the world they could have possibly believed and participated in such a ridiculous plan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Before Laci & Connor Peterson, there was Carole & Jesse Garton!, August 5, 2008
Before the Laci and Connor Peterson murder case, there was another young pregnant woman, Carole Holman Garton, who was also expecting a son but she wasn't expecting to be killed by Norman Daniels who was forced into killing this pregnant woman. This plan was all hatched by Carole's pathological liar of a husband, Todd Garton, who lied about everything in his life to the point of believing his own lies. Sadly, Todd is not stopped in time before Carole & Jesse's senseless murder. Todd pretended to be somebody important and somebody he never was. The murder took place in Redding, California. On top of that, Todd and his married bisexual girlfriend Lynn Noyes also decided to kill Dean Noyes, Lynn's husband, but that never happened. If so, I don't think Carole's murder would have happened. Lynn was more than just lovesick. She was possessed by her obsession with Todd Garton. Despite their marriages, that didn't stop them from being lovers on the side. Lynn also had a lesbian fling with Natalya in New York where she lived. Todd's desire to be the center of the world only landed him behind bars on death row for orchestrating one of the most awful crimes in modern history. I'm sure he's not far from Scott Peterson on death row also at San Quentin. I keep thinking--why not just get up and leave? Why kill a pregnant wife? For no reason other than an insurance money which he never collected anyway. This sad story could have been told better but I even noticed some spelling errors and I still don't know why Todd Garton came to be in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review by book character, February 20, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Kill or Be Killed (Mass Market Paperback)
I served and I survived. I did it as a Christian and by telling the truth which are appetites for your own funeral in prison. But I knew the good LORD would protect me and he did. God remembered my vow before ever going to jail. "God I'll be a preacher for you," I said, "if you can get me through this." I am doing all I can do to preach. I have started my own multi=page web site. In fact you can get information from it by emailing Jesuslovesyou@wwjd4urluvjn316.com I have only written nine small books just over 100 pages each at 8 1/2 x 11. I should have done more and I have more in the works, I am just busy. I may sell some of my books here along with Robert Scott's but it is tricky because I vowed to give the books away. Unless I give the money to charity perhaps I could do it. Any suggestions? People do change. You have to figure at the time of the crime I was an athiestic fool, who was stupid enough to think we were some random accident. A lot of it was training by Todd. His whole idea was to brainwash and destroy. All in all prison was great for me. I wouldn't change a thing if I had a choice except had I known Carole was going to die I would have warmed the barrel of the Colt 45 up on Todd. Knowing me back then I would have killed Todd had I known the truth. I would have been so ticked off knowing what a lying #$*&^%@( fool he is. Perhaps you don't understand this thing. Todd is the Devil in my opinion. His evil has only been surpassed by one man even more evil and I talk about the other man on my site. By the way I will be reviewing Robert's book on my site. Him and I are friends and I have permission to use it. Much of what Robert said was true. And by the way I read your reviews. Thanks for the comment how gullable I am. There has been some truth to that. There was a way to Todd, his evil presense that it. God also created hell for people like Todd. People say, "I can't serve a God that will punish forever and ever." I can because there will be a day. I got the stuffing beat out of me three times while locked up not to mention the constant barrage of evil thrown out at me. Why because I was kind to everyone, helpful and I did the very thing inmates detest. I told the truth. That is their worst enemy, but in my books I have no compassion for the common criminal. You sowed your seeds now reap your weeds. I did. I also knew in my heart I would survive even though I wanted to die. I told all the truth as unpopular as it seemed. You can read my comments of the comments. I hate evil. My personal war against the very people who did me dirty is to serve God the best I possibly can. I am not afraid of the truth and this book makes it known. As far as Carole she was an incredible person. I will talk more of her greatness and our friendship later. I don't recall reading of it but Carole and I were best friends. I had plans of being the godfather to her child. I am an ex-Marine (unlike Todd who never served) so I am supposed to be used to combat but seeing Carole dead is an image that will haunt me throughout eternity. I also don't know if it was ever mentioned but in my life I have really only been in one fight where I physically fought back. It was in the Marines and unlike officer idoit, sniper, force recon, wimp from hell, I actually served. At one time in a war game in captivity I went for the gaurd so all my fellow Marine friends could escape. Unlike Sergent Captain faggettee Todd you can actually verify my stories. Now Todd was such a loser he had his wife paying the bills. She would have to call him Todd Saun. Todd would speak of getting an erection when killing people. He spoke of the idea of little mice crawling around in his rectum saying, "it might feel good." I was really beginning to wonder about Todd but his evil lying presence was so strong I could never argue with him. He forced me to believe and he made me feel trapped just as the title of the book says. I could go on but I won't bore you with details.

Sincerely,

Dale Lee Gordon
