BUBBA SMITH WAS A GREAT DEFENSIVE END FOR THE BALTIMORE COLTS AND THIS BOOK IS ABOUT HIS LIFE AND THE ABRUPT END TO HIS CAREER. I REMEMBER BUBBA AS A MAJOR FORCE IN COLLEGE, PLAYING FOR MICHIGAN STATE AND THEN GOING ON TO THE COLTS WHERE HE GOT EVEN BETTER. I AM A BROWNS FAN BUT I STILL REMEMBER BUBBA BEING ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS WHY THE COLTS BEAT THE BROWNS IN THE...

Allow me to preface my review with these comments: I am a diehard, true blue, Baltimore Colt fan. I've devoured numerous biographies on both the team and the players and never been disappointed. Until now. This "book" has been the worst reading experience of my life. Not only is the writing dubious, the content is either so obviously fiction or just plain...

I AM A BROWNS FAN BUT I STILL REMEMBER BUBBA BEING ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS WHY THE COLTS BEAT THE BROWNS IN THE 1968 NFL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 34-0. BUBBA HAD HIS GREAT CAREER PREMATURLEY END BECAUSE OF AN OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY THAT RESULTED IN BUBBA RUNNING INTO THE YARD MARKER AND INJURING HIS KNEE SEVERLEY. HE CAME BACK BUT HIS MOBILITY WAS VERY MUCH HAMPERED AND BUBBA'S CAREER WENT SOUTH. A GOOD DEAL OF THE BOOK IS ABOUT THE COURT CASE IN WHICH BUBBA SUED THE NFL FOR NEGLIGENCE BUT THE ALL POWERFUL NFL PREVAILED. BUBBA ALSO WAS IN SOME GREAT LITE BEER COMMERCIALS AND ON THE ACTION SERIES BLUE THUNDER CONCERNING MILITARY HELICOPTERS. I ALWAYS FOUND BUBBA A UNIQUE PERSONALITY AND HIS BOOK PROVES IT. I LIKE THIS BOOK AND RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL COLTS AND FOOTBALL FANS.

Allow me to preface my review with these comments: I am a diehard, true blue, Baltimore Colt fan. I've devoured numerous biographies on both the team and the players and never been disappointed. Until now. This "book" has been the worst reading experience of my life. Not only is the writing dubious, the content is either so obviously fiction or just plain annoying, that I'm sure Dennis Rodman's bio would read like a classic in comparison. Yes, Colt fans, it's that bad! Worse still, a man I once admired, Bubba Smith, is now someone that--quite frankly--disgusts me.
