Editorial Reviews

Kill Devil Hill is a super group consisting of famed bassist Rex Brown, (Pantera, Down) drum monster Vinny Appice (former drummer with Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven And Hell), guitar virtuoso Mark Zavon and vocalist Dewey Bragg. The band are gearing up to release their self-titled debut album on May 22nd via SPV/Steamhammer. In 2009 Vinny had found the perfect guitarist in Zavon, who was also looking to start a new band. Zavon played a demo he had recorded with vocalist Dewey Bragg, and Vinny was floored. With the three members in place Vinny asked his long time friend Rex Brown to play bass on a demo track called War Machine Rex immediately agreed and the final puzzle piece was in place for the formation of Kill Devil Hill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!!!! May 23, 2012

I have never written or commented on a CD before, but I am really impressed with this CD. I definately see elements of all of their previous work and the vocals are similar to the great Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. What a GREAT new band!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD!!!!! May 26, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Dewey Bragg has KILLER Pipes which which at times are very reminiscent of Layne Staley. With Brown and Appice hammering down the bottom end of these tunes I knew I would like this CD, but it has surpassed my expectations and is an EPIC release. I can't recommend this CD enough!! It is almost like Sabbath and Alice in Chains had a child. Get this CD yesterday!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! August 22, 2012

Proof that a bunch of old guys can still whip the crap out of these young punk "metal" bands. Classic, old school, heavy metal. No gimmicks, no BS, just straight up, kick you in your teeth metal. This album would've been gold 10, 15 years ago, and will be gold 15 years from now. Unbelievable effort by these guys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kill Devil Hill Rocks! May 26, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
They are a great band to see live, and their album does not sound contrived in any sort of way. These are just four experienced guys who love what they are doing, and they do it well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album September 11, 2012

I'm so glad that guys like these are still getting out there and making new music. KDH has been compared to several bands, but I really believe that they have a sound of their own. I really like Dewey Bragg on vocals. Great album for metal fans. Also, great live show!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!! September 11, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
I wanted to listen to this band after hearing about them on That Metal Show. What a great cd, it reminds me of a band called The Devil's Train. If you like great heavy music without the screaming you can't understand then this cd should do the trick......

4.0 out of 5 stars Far better than I anticipated! June 7, 2012
By J. Lamb
Format:Audio CD
I didn't have terrbily high expectations for this album. I know, I know, it has Rex and Vinnie but I've been a bit put out by some of the mediocre music from great musicians working in different groups. Kill Devil Hill is an exception to me. Part of Rex's reasons for leaving Down were to do something different. This is something different than anything I've from him before. His bass sounds freaking awesome on most of the tracks. The vocalist is on the mark, the guitar solos are more interesting than any I've listened to in a while and Vinnie is...well, he's Vinnie Appice. What more can you ask?

On MOG this thing shows "2007" so I thought it must be another band with the same name, some obscure nobodies. Downloaded anyway out of curiosity, and was blown away by how professional and non-cliched it sounded for an "obscure" band.

Heh. I guess the 2007 is a misprint, and it's these guys after all! Not sure about the "not heavy" comments-it's not insane thrash with that low growly voice kinda thing, if that's what you're looking for. I felt it really jammed, so at least listen to the song samples.
