4.0 out of 5 stars Another great album., November 7, 2009

Another year, another great Electric Six album.

Who would've thought these guys would be this prolific (6 albums in 6 years? Who do they think they are, the Beatles?) and not run out of ideas by now?

"Kill" is a very impressive offering, one that's definitely more ROCK! than DANCE! (though those looking for more synthy, dancey stuff should check out Evil Cowards, e6 frontman Dick Valentine's electronica side project, its quite good) but one thats just as consistent and good as anything else the band has done.

"Kill" does seem to be a darker and heavier album than those preceding it, the bass production is rather thick and the electronica sounds they weave in and out of the songs give the whole album a darker texture than the others.

If you're already an e6 fan, pick this up without delay, its a great album.

If you're new to the band, I'd suggest Senor Smoke, as its my personal favorite, but as I've said before, they haven't made a bad album yet. Just get them all, they deserve your money more than any other band I know.

I'm finally seeing them live later this month in Milwaukee, I'm totally psyched.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electric Six are still rockin' the casbah, October 20, 2009

Electric Six continue their more stripped down "rock" sound that was evident with Flashy, abandoning (most) of the comedy. There are some slight retreats to their funky disco style seen on previous records, specifically on Body Shot. The synth has been toned down a bit too. The production quality on Kill is fantastic though and the guitar work has been taken up a notch. This is more of an album to rock out too than dance. However, E6 have plenty of "dance" albums in their back catalogue so I applaud them for not sounding too repetitive.

If you didn't enjoy Flashy then you may or may not like Kill. I personally think this album is better than Flashy, but not as good as Switzerland or Senor Smoke. If you like straight up rock with some funny lyrics then this is the album for you. Dick Valentine (Tyler Spencer) is in top form vocally.

Considering this band has been going strong since their debut album Fire in 2003, with six albums already released (& side project Evil Cowards), I would expect that they will have another record out next year. Hopefully they will take a more synth-heavy direction next time.

Pick up Kill, its one of their better records.

Highlight tracks: Body Shot, White Eyes, You're Bored, & I Belong In A Factory.

5.0 out of 5 stars All KILLer, No filler., July 3, 2010
This review is from: Kill (Audio CD)
Everything about this CD is completely kick ass! They keep pumping out great albums every single year (consecutively) and its a damn shame that they no longer have any mainstream success or critical recognition they SO deserve. "Kill" is an improvement over the last record "Flashy" in many ways. For one, it has more variety and punch. And it also includes more memorable tracks. But don't go into this expecting another dance floor hit like "Danger! High Voltage" because what you get here is a collection of oddball disco rockers that blow any songs off of their debut "Fire" out of the water. "Body Shot" will immediately get you hooked with its beats and hooks and "Waste of Time and Money", the heaviest track the band has ever recorded, will confirm that you made a wise decision in purchasing this album with its power chords and haunting piano (not to mention the insanely awesome lyrics such as "While I was eating cardboard in my fathers station wagon). But hey, this band has their soft moments too. "My Idea of Fun" and "Steal Your Bones" are as close to ballads as E6 have ever gotten. Does it work? Yes. They might possibly be the strongest songs here. But don't let that fool you, the Six still have that comedic side that draws numerous hits on YouTube every day and while they will never have a novelty internet sensation like "Gay Bar" again, "The Newark Airport Boogie" tops it in both novelty and quality. Pick up this album. If you have any youth, taste or desire to have fun in you then you'll adore this creation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Electrical Evolution?, January 2, 2010

Nah, not really. But if you dig the sound of Electric 6 and want more of the same chocolaty goodness from this band, here you have it. It will take a while to grow on you, but once it does you will have your own favorites you'll be plugging your friends into your ipod to have listen with. You'll find there are no "with a bullet" singles on this album, but clearly a well balanced album with 100% well refined songs- without that nasty pop-trash aftertaste.

So if you are on the fence about this album then jump off the fence and get it into your ears. It's worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic album!, November 20, 2009
This review is from: Kill (MP3 Download)
Love it! Every single song is great! This group has mixed hard rock with punk, a little disco and funk to make music that can only be described as "Ear Candy"! Listen to this album twice and you will be addicted...like I am!

Electric Six is one of those bands that stumbled onto their sound early on and have honed it into something really, really sharp. If you expect them to break musical ground, that does not happen in Kill. What does happen in this process is a consistent album that delivers a great set of songs that Electric Six fans will enjoy. They might be approachable for people not familiar with the band, but this is not the album to start with.
