More About the Author

Let's see, I've known that I wanted to be a writer since I was about six, when a teacher praised a horrible poem I'd written. I wrote my first book in high school, finishing it in my first year of college. Then I became a special ed teacher before I was able to become a writer full-time. That's about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Need to give it like 100 stars!, April 16, 2003

(REAL NAME)
WEll this is actually a review for all 3 books but I'm writting it on the last one so I don't ruin the first two. These three books were so well written. Everything in them was real. I know in the first two I was afraid to walk where I could see a shadow. But L.J.Smith made everything in the final book, where as now I am not afraid of anything and almost feel protected by shadows.

In Book one Jenny is looking for a game to play at her boyfriends, Tom's, birthday party. Scared into a mysetious shop she purchases and odd box. The players begin and are swept into a differnet world...the shadow world. Each one has to face their own fear, Ultimately with Julain, the Shadow Man( in love with Jenny and kinda like the devil) playing the part of the antagonist. Through bravery trickery all but one of the players leave.

In Book two Jenny and her friends become swpet into a deadly game of cat and mouse. Julian is leaving little clues about who he will take next. But he isnt playing fairly, hes leaving the clues to late or acting to quick upon them. IN the end Her cousin Zach and Tom are stuck in the other world.

Book three(my fav) Her,Micheal,Audrey and Dee are in over there heads when the willingly enter the Shadow World to save Zach and Tom. They run into a game, actually a treasure hunt. It's in a hallucination of a theme park Jenny used to go too. You see a whole different side of Julian, a side I fell in love with because it was such a contrast.Well that's all im going to say about the third since most people reading this havent read it yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars be prepared to cry, December 1, 2003
In the trilogy of the Forbidden game i thought that the first and third were the best books I've ever read, and although the second was good it didnt even compare to these. I thought the game was great but if I were jenny I'm afraid I would miss out on it because one look and a few words from Julian and I would run away with him straight away. The books were made to be so real that I'm still searching for my own door, call me sad but you have to admit if Julian wanted you, you wouldn't be able to resist!

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent conclusion to a great series, June 19, 2003

In the final book in The Forbidden Game Trilogy Jenny and her friends cross over into the shadow world to rescue Tom, her boyfriend, and Zach, her cousin. Once they enter the shadow world a new and even more deadly game begins because in this world, their nightmares are more real than ever. Trapped in a demonic carnival they are at the mercy of not only Julian, but all the other frightening creatures of the shadow world. Will Jenny and her friends all make it out or have they bitten off more then they can chew?

I was fairly pleased with the conclusion to the series although the ending was a bit disappointing. This is probably the most well written book out of the three. I nearly cried during some of the scenes. I was also happy that Michael got some character development at last. Actually the characters in general were handled very well, especially Julian. Besides the slightly disappointing ending, the only other complaint I have is that it was far too short. The first book in the series still remains my favorite but this one comes in at a very close second. I highly recommend this series.
