After the first few times though this CD I felt pretty much the same way as the person who gave it 1 star...boring.

I couldn't have been more wrong, this one needs to grow on you. At this point I feel this is his best work perhaps in his career...that's a big statement! Give it a chance, it truly is beautiful.

This album made me a Mark Knopfler fan. I can't believe there are only 3 other reviews! Knopfler should be compared to Clapton because he's a master guitarist, an amazing song writer AND has a mesmerizing deep voice that stays with you. It didn't take me long to absorb this album...oddly it was that quirky Secondary Waltz that caught me humming first but the "Fizzy and the Still", "We Can Get Wild" and "Punish the Monkey" soon followed and it's all great. Being a Knopler fan is a richly rewarding experience and this album is up there with the rest.
