5.0 out of 5 stars Easily worth the money
Track 1 could be the best song Thursday has ever created. They could of sold an entire album with this song. It worries me to think that they have to top this now.

This is far from a sell out cd to make money. This was made out of love for the fans.

This is far from a sell out cd to make money. This was made out of love for the fans.

Thursday has always been one of my favorite bands, but I didn't know much about their history and how they came together. After watching the dvd, I've got a lot more respect for the work these guys have put in touring and putting in the extra work to always be on the cutting edge.

The dvd was really well produced and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great CD/DVD for the TRUE Thursday fan., November 5, 2007
This review is from: Kill the House Lights (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
This CD/DVD from Thursday is really great, although the songs don't seem organized, starting with 3 unreleased ones, following with some old(added intro)/live stuff, then some new stuff and finally some remixes, it's still amazing from start to end. Aside from such a great CD you will have a freakin awesome DVD with a documentary about the band from its humble beginnings to what it has become now, directed by Steve Pedulla himself with Geoff Rickly as his personal assistant, haha! Additional to the documentary you will have about 11 live performances of the band which let you see and listen to the amazing intensity Thursday offers in it's live performances. The money for this CD/DVD is definetely worth it, so what are you doing? BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars Thursday's b-side, demo, interlude, live, and remix galore, November 4, 2007
This review is from: Kill the House Lights (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
This record basically marks the return of the band to victory records (as you will see in the documentary on the 2nd disc dvd included) while showcasing some of the great songs that surprisingly didn't make the cut for some of their old records (first 3 songs), as well as some odd takes on Thursday classics. Some tracks are interludes like: "Roar of Far Off Black Jets", which is a pretty quiet like 2 minute instrumental in the vein of "Arc-Lamps, Signal Flares...", and is my favorite track on this compilation right now along with the heavy anthems: Ladies And Gentlemen..." and "Panic On The Streets of Health Care City". Oh, and "Dead Song" in contrary to its name, is quite loud and insane! All in all, an incohesive yet good set of songs.

The DVD is exceptional, and is hands down, worth the price of this whole set alone. It contains over 45 minutes of concert footage, and a fantastic very very well well made documentary that is around 2 hours long (about) with interviews from band members and many other people that have been a critical part of the bands history from the very beginning up to this point in time, old live footage since their first show, and so on. Their are some nice extras as well, but this whole package will for sure please any hardcore Thursday fan and is a good reference to the bands history... Perhaps they shall be "the next nirvana" like they were suppose to be ;).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, January 14, 2012
This review is from: Kill the House Lights (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
The songs here aren't as strong as those found on Thursday's actual LP's: I'd say about half of them are great, and the other half are merely good. Overall, an absolute must for hardcore Thursday fans.

Come on, only $10?? I bought this as a gift this past Christmas. I can't comment on how the CD was, but I did watch the DVD! If you are even THINKING about buying this, just do it. The documentary is very interesting, giving insight to their touring, near break-up, adding keyboardist, etc. Definitely worth the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars More of a hardcore fan purchase, September 20, 2010

My review lifted from RateYourMusic:

"This is great to have as a sort of novelty for any major Thursday fan.

For the CD, i'd give it a 3.0.
The early workings of 'ACBTLD' material, demos, and live stuff are all great, but the new material is just ok. While not that bad, "Ladies and Gentleman..." and "Dead Songs" are probably Thursday's worst songs (in terms of originality & lyrics, but even the instrumentation is quite boring).
They could have improved it slightly by having a different track order, but it's not that big of a deal.

The DVD portion is a 4.5.
The main feature is interesting, all band member's input + the input of their mixers/producers/etc. It's always cool to see a bunch of pretty normal guys who love music and are passionate about driving it (especially Geoff).
All the recordings are great, good audio quality, but also good camera work - it seems each band member has good coverage. I'm pleased with the live set list...I think it has a decent mix.

I felt that the focus of this release was the DVD, so I leaned towards a higher rating."

when i came home and saw this album had come in the mail i just about peed my pants...its always fun to hear b-sides, demos, etc...but the dvd is more than any fan could ask for...it has a documentary thats 2 hours long and it only gets better as it goes...on top of that theres tons of live footage...which...i love...seeing as how ive gone to every holiday show (at starland ballroom) theyve ever put on (this year's new year's party should be the best ever)... my favorite of the 3 new songs is ladies and gentlemen.... this song is close to my heart b/c i can relate to the lyrics on a variety of levels...but then again...i can relate to alot of the songs...either way...i think it shows a little bit of what thursday is going to be putting out in the near future and i personally cannot wait another minute

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Release, November 20, 2007

This review is from: Kill the House Lights (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
I saw Thursday live once. It was sometime between Full Collapse and War All The Time. It was one of the most amazing shows I've been to. It was like the entire audience knew all of the lyrics to every song, and everyone was screaming the scream-o parts with such intensity. The energy in the room was incredible. You can hear change from album to album, but they are still an amazing band and I appreciate everything they've done. As far as this release, I'd pay $20 just for the documentary that chronicles the entire lifeline of the band with some cool live performance footage. The DVD also includes enough live songs to almost make a full concert. And of course, you get the CD which is worth the price alone. If you like Thursday, get it.

3.0 out of 5 stars I love thursday and all.., April 28, 2008

but the sad thing is that while being an amazing band they still apparently fall victim to money schemes set up by record companies.. while its neat as hell to hear the demos again from years ago, the final album cut versions of the songs were put on the record for a reason. they were better, period.

the dvd is amazing from what I hear, haven't watched it yet myself. for the cd portion of the record, I would say probably not worth the money unless thursday is your favorite band (myself). honestly from the outside looking in its pretty dull in retrospect, however again I've heard a few times the price is worth the dvd contained inside so keep that in mind.
