A wonderful dark comedy,
By Aranel (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kill Me Later (DVD)
Selma Blair & Max Beesley make an excellent duo for this dark comedy/romance. I laughed, I cried, I hoped they'd get together... Joking, but it is good. Selma Blair's acting talent shines through as this is a side of her I've never seen before. I never thought she was that good of an actress as she always played idiots or some other character that had nothing going for them, but she proved me wrong with this movie. I've never seen Max Beesley before and he was pretty darn good. Not to mention his fabulous English accent! :)Shawn (Blair) & Charlie (Beesley) come together under odd circumstances in a suicide-robbery gone bad. Charlie takes Shawn hostage after his robbery of her firm goes bad and she promises she'll help him get away as long as he'll kill her when the whole ordeal is over. Things only get stranger from there on. Will they die or won't they? With cops after both now and the prospect of death on both their doors. Both begin to learn things about one another which shows the better days of both and makes you realize how the characters are both generally good people in a really bad point in their lives. By chance they become dependent of one another without knowing it, missing each other when they're apart and willing to give it all up for love. This movie is great. I saw it by chance and after one viewing it became my favorite movie. If you like dark comedy, romantic lipbiters or movies that catch you by surprise, you have to see this. SEE IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Heathers is the best example of a dark comedy..period..this one is also a good example too...Selma Blair(Cruel Intentions, Storytelling) plays Shawn, a lonely and suicidal girl who wants to kill herself...mixing a relationship with her boss played by D.W. Moffett(Traffic) so she goes to the roof ready to jump...when she is pulled back by a bank robber named Charlie(played awesomely by Max Beesley(Glitter, dont know why he was in that movie), and he makes a promise to Shawn that he will kill her later..so they high tail it the hell out of there and go to Beesley's place to wait for Beesley's friend Billy played by Brendan Fehr(Tv's Roswell, The Forsaken).. then the 2 get to know one another and things happen and they happen and mix in nice performances by Lochlyn Munro(Dead Man On Campus, Dracula 2000) and O'Neal Compton and you get a real good movie

This was a great movie!! I jumped in the middle of it and it caught my eye! Boy am I glad that I stayed - this movie has you wanting Charlie and Shawn to get together the whole time (at least I did) They need each other for survival and they finally figure it out at the end! Don't want to give too much away but it was a great suspense up to the end also! I reccomend this movie to anyone!

This movie must of had a good writer/caster and a poor director. The story and acting is excellent, but the horrible cheesy photoshop-like effects need to go. It looks like a good movie that ran out of money, but definately worth a watch. Great for people sick of watching aimless happy go lucky hollywood "blockbusters," this is something that belongs on IFC.

Although the plot is contrived (Selma Blair, who is trying to end her miserable life by jumping off a building, agrees to be "held hostage" by a young bank robber provided he will "kill me later") the movie is a great vehicle for Ms. Blair, who even manages to impart meaning and smouldering sensuality to her extended smoking scenes. For the type of movie it is, it works well.

Good Plot and Good Acting,

I saw this movie on TV and I really enjoyed it, so much in fact that I bought it. The actors did a great job and played believable roles. There is some dark humor and funny lines. The plot was good and not something seen very often in main screen movies today. The only bad part of the movie was the editing. The director used weird colors for small snippets, which in my opinion did not help emphasize anything, there were also weird zooms and other odd editing. Overall though I liked the movie and it is something I can watch again and again. I recommend it..

I caught part of this movie one day by accident. I was channel surfing during a commercial and kept coming back to it. Eventually, I left the other program to watch this. It's an amazing movie. For starters, this movie shoots entire plot sequences in different locations and merges them together to create a seamless dialogue with an amazing visual effect. The next thing is the story. It's not your average boy-meets-girl-they-fall-in-love story. It's boy robs bank then kidnaps girl and drags her along and she falls for him story. I don't think that Selma Blair and Max Beesley could have pulled it off any better. The other plot device that makes the movie is the interplay between the two detectives (McGinley & Reed) assigned to the robbery. They give the story the depth without which, it would have been nothing more than an overdone short film. All in all, it's a watcher.

Kill Me Later is a really good movie. A drama that ends great, and shows the severity of depression and how suicide can rule ones life as it gives people hope that things can always turn out better.

I really liked this film. It is definately a different off beat movie but it is worth seeing! Does anybody know if there is a soundtrack or at least the songs that go to the movie?

When watching this movie you feel so consumed by the complications that always seem to be around the corner. I had never actually seen the begining of the movie, but knew i loved it when i first saw it. It takes you on a trill ride of life as it could be, if you were to only meet the right person...or the wronge one in this case. A "dark" comedy with a passionate twist on love. All of this makeks the movie great, but what makes it wonderful is Max Beesley's fabulous accent. It simply made me melt!
