This review is from: To Kill a Mockingbird and 24 More Videos: Language Arts Activities for Middle School (Paperback)
This is a wonderful resource book. It includes summaries of 25 classic films, plus several pages of worksheets for each covering various language arts skills, such as vocabulary, plot, and comprehension. There is also an essay question for each film. You can see a sample of this book on the Walch website [...]. It provides a list of films, plus sample pages for two of the videos.
Some of the films might be better understood by late middle schoolers or high schoolers. This is also explained in the teacher notes. The 25 films are of different genres, such as historical fiction, sci fi, romance, and adventure. Several could be used as a larger unit, for example, West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet - compare two different versions of a very similar story. Many are based on classic literature, and would be an interesting part of a literature unit.
