5.0 out of 5 stars Getting Harder, March 15, 2004
By
M. J. Hadley (Los Angeles Area) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kill Switch (Audio CD)
With each album, Hypnogaja's rock gets a little harder, with Kill Switch being the hardest yet - and that's a good thing. The lyrics are still understandable (not yelling and screeming like some bands), have meaning, and melody. The driving rhythm section keeps each song moving. My favorite song on the album is Lullaby. Keep up the good work boys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs!, March 15, 2004
This review is from: Kill Switch (Audio CD)
First and foremost this band have good songs. And they don't lose sight of the fact that without good songs, you haven't really got much. Along with strong vocal melodies, they pay as much attention to having good dynamics and thoughtful arrangements. "Nothing Box" is a perfect example of this.

With all these things considered, I'd say they have the attributes to be around for a long time and let's hope so!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very unusual, March 13, 2004
By
Ginseng5 (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews

These guys rock! Great songs, great musicians and absolutely sick production. "Need To Believe" is probably my favorite song on this album - cool harmonies, very dark and dramatic and has a lotta energy. "Lullabye" is another favorite - it has so many different textures and it builds and builds and builds, all the while supporting a rather eloquent melody. Quite unusual for a rock band.

This indie band could blow any of the top 40 major label acts out of the water. Better watch these guys...

I personally enjoy Hypnogaja's sound. I like the songs and would suggest it to anyone who wants something a little different from all the other crap on the radio.

HYPNOGAJA is a hard rocking melodic band. Some of the guys were out promoting at an Evanescence show at The Wiltern in LA and we met them and got some free CD's with two songs NOTHING BOX and NEED TO BELIEVE plus a video. Bought KILL SWITCH a few days later and love the album. Check this out. Great work fellas.

I saw Hypnogaja play at the Virgin Megastore in San Francisco recently. I had never heard of them before but I bought "Kill Switch" on the strength of the band's in-store performance. It hasn't left my CD player since - top notch songs, quality vocals and mix. This is definitely a band to watch.

I just got turned on to HYPNOGAJA by a friend of mine who saw the band play with Depswa and gODHEAD at The Whisky in West Hollywood last year. We went to see them at the Key Club this past January and it was a sick show. They've got great songs and ShyBoy, the lead singer, has an amazing voice. WOW! I bought the "Kill Switch" CD that night and it's been in my car every day since. I recommend this unique band to everyone who's looking for great music that rocks hard!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound, October 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kill Switch (Audio CD)
This band has an amazing alt. rock sound and the writing is solid. Nice eclectic blend of sounds from track to track with the right balance of hard driving guitar riffs, intense metal rap and haunting melodies. If you can score a copy of the European release "Bridge to Nowhere" grab it. Has most of the tracks from "Kill Switch" and a few earlier tracks that have been re-recorded for an incredible result. This band has a lot of momentum and deservedly so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sincerity in voice, power in music, March 13, 2004
By
Dave (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kill Switch (Audio CD)
These guys are some of the hardest working people in the music industry....and the dedication shines through on Kill Switch. From the depths of Hollywood obscurity has emerged a band with the uniqueness to change the current state of rock. If you buy one CD this year, this should be the one. And if you live near LA, there's absolutetly no excuse for not checking out a live show!
