5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing new entry in trilogy of whodunit mysteries, April 11, 2001
This review is from: Who Killed Mona Lisa? (Claire Rawlings Mysteries) (Paperback)
"Who Killed Mona Lisa" is the latest offering from Carole Bugge, and it is no less satisfying than her previous two books, "Who Killed Blanche DuBois" and "Who Killed Dorian Gray?" This time, Claire and Meredith are visiting an historic New England inn for Thanksgiving when a storm leaves them stranded. And if that's not bad enough, there's a murder. And then another death... Filled with suspense and excellent plotting, this book is definitely a worthy addition to an already enjoyable series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A DELIGHTFUL AND CHARMING WHODUNIT!, November 18, 2003

This review is from: Who Killed Mona Lisa? (Claire Rawlings Mysteries) (Paperback)
Carole Bugge's WHO KILLED MONA LISA is a delightful and charming "whodunit" in the classic tradition. Claire Rawlings and her sidekick, 12 year old Meredith Lawrence, visit the cozy New England inn, the Wayside Inn, and stumble on a murderous mystery surrounding the Secret Drawer Society.

Bugge's style is crisp, rapid and engaging; her characters believable and compelling. The plot is tight-knit and the suspense builds and deepens from page one. Claire and Meredith follow the clues like true modern Sherlockians. The "Claire Rawlings series"--of which this is the third, preceded by WHO KILLED BLANCHE DuBOISE and WHO KILLED DORIAN GRAY--is one of the most delightful and thrilling series of "whodunits" to grace the mystery field in many years.

I highly recommend WHO KILLED MONA LISA to one and all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Miss These -- You Can't Put 'em Down!, June 18, 2001

This review is from: Who Killed Mona Lisa? (Claire Rawlings Mysteries) (Paperback)
Carole Bugge has written a wonderful series of mysteries. Yes, "Who Killed Mona Lisa?" is the latest, but I recommend that you start with "Who Killed Blanche Du Bois?" to really get invloved with Meredith and Claire -- Bugge's sleuths. One of Bugge's great talents is creating wonderful characters; another is giving the reader a great sense of atmosphere. Her books are fun: perfect for the beach, a lazy Sunay afternoon, or -- for a New Yorker -- the subway ride to work. Order all three books today!

5.0 out of 5 stars a good addition to the series, July 11, 2001

This review is from: Who Killed Mona Lisa? (Claire Rawlings Mysteries) (Paperback)
This series just keeps getting better. This latest Who Killed... book has a little more emotional depth than the last two and I found it the most satisfying read so far in this series. A lot of the fun of this series is seeing the teenage sleuth, Meredith, become more complex, and I look forward to future developments as she grows up in later books... The atmosphere of New England is very well rendered, and this is an ideal book for curling up by the fireside.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN FOR EVERYONE, June 24, 2001

This review is from: Who Killed Mona Lisa? (Claire Rawlings Mysteries) (Paperback)
A friend recommended that I read this series of mysteries from this talented young writer. I highly recommend these books. They are fun, exciting, and suspenseful in the classic "Whodunit?" style. Younger readers may enjoy these books as well because one of the main sleuths is a thirteen year old. So, stock up on "Pepperidge Farm" cookies and sit down for a great read.
