Ms. Winston does it again with the second installment in her crafting mystery series. Anastasia's antics are just as hilarious as in her first book. Death by Killer Mop Doll was highly entertaining.

Anastasia is back, just three months down the track from when her unlamented husband, Karl, dies in a casino having blown all their savings, college funds, insurance and mortgage money. The two grannys - Anastasia's mother and mother in law are still in situ with their animals - Mephisto the dog and Catherine the Great, the cat - doing battle with Ralph the parrot. The sons are still not helping their mother in the house - nor are the grannys - and Anastasia is battling with her workplace, which has come up with a scheme whereby the employees will do twice the work for no extra pay.

I won't give a spoiler - I never do that if I can help it, because it's not fair to the author or future readers - however, the plot is fast-paced, a sort of a much smarter and likeable Stephanie Plum battling the odds. The dialogue is good.

I have to say that the ending is not as satisfying as I would have expected, it finishes abruptly, almost as though the author didn't quite know how to end the story. Perhaps she might be going to write another carrying on from the last page? I certainly hope so, because there's a bit more mileage to be had out of these characters and I for one, hope to find out what happens to them. A trilogy would round it off perfectly!!

New Jersey's single mom and craft editor, Anastasia Pollack, is back in her second mystery. A great character, funny, curious, and lovable and determined to keep her family solvent and safe. Enjoyed every word.

What a fun read! This is a well-crafted and fast-paced story that kept me laughing as the book progresses to its dramatic conclusion. Once again, Anastasia find a dead body with one of her craft tools nearby and now must outwit a killer before she becomes a victim of her own tools. I like this story as Anastasia deals with the drama that is her dysfunction family and trying to find a killer in her roundabout way to the amusement of this reader. With quirky and eccentric but lovable characters and witty and amusing dialogue, this was very enjoyable and I look forward to more adventures in this entertaining series.

If you need a boost, cheering up, and love mysteries, this book is for you. It made me laugh our loud at times. The characters are inventive and yet realistic. Your life seems so much simpler compared to our heroine. Can't wait for the next one!

i enjoyed reading this fun and light-hearted, "who-done-it" mystery. the characters are interesting and the plot was intriguing without being too serious or intense. this is well written and gives the reader a chance to gather the clues, along with the characters, to solve the mystery. light and entertaining!

I enjoyed this well paced cozy mystery even better than the first as I got to know the characters better. I enjoy that although Anastasia does get into predicaments, for the most part her actions make since in the situation she faces. So often that is not true even of good cozy mysteries.
A few of Anastasia's money worries are lessened and the loan shark it out of the picture, so now she should be able to breathe a bit in spite of having to care for a home with too many people who don't pull their weight and the never ending stress of making her deadlines as crafts editor for a woman's magazine. She might even be able to catch a little rest! Ha! Someone comes up with the bright idea of having the editors of their little magazine do tiny, little, 15-minute segments on a morning show that the company owns. Fifteen minutes that will take at very least a day to prepare for if everything goes well. Fifteen minutes that according to their contracts, they do not get paid for! Needless to say everything doesn't go well as someone vandalizes the set and some of the crafts the first day of shooting. On the second day of shooting the director of the program and Anastasia's mothers newest fiancee is found dead in the crafts closet and police custody for all her work, again. When the cops start eyeing her mother as a suspect, Anastasia takes it upon herself to try to figure out the real killer since it has to be someone who works on the show.

I read this book as part of an inexpensive boxed set that included books one and two but I will be buying the rest of the books in the series. They are not expensive but I probably would not have found them without the boxed set promotion and that would have been sad.
