Looks like it was too late to save the show though.

First off I am quite disappointed that the series is over. Overall this was a great season with its 13 episodes. They made some changes this season to try and save the series. I accept this and was not too bothered by it. The Major changes are his Lightmans ex wife is not in this season. FBI agent Benjamin Reynolds is no longer part of the cast. Loker is more cynical this season and is thinking about leaving the Lightman Group. And they seemed to try to focus more on Jillian's sex appeal.
Other than those changes it was basically the same. I loved this series and am highly disappointed that Fox killed the series. The science behind the lies and the fun of them showing real people reacting in the same manner they showed on the fictional characters on the show was incredible. Me and my wife loved pointing things out to our friends when we noticed their lies. FOX I want my Lies Back!

This series was fantastic. Season 3 was just getting better with the kid they hired off the street and they cancelled it? I watched the first 3 seasons only to find there is no fourth season. A network would have to be crazy not to pick this show back up...and no I am not one of the actors or related. I just thought the show was really well written with some good twists. Anyway, I am bummed.

Whoa. I mean lets be honest, as far as characters go, as far as episode plot lines and mysteries go, and as far as thematic material goes, lie to me has always been good. Even if it's not your cup of tea. Acting has been spot on. Writing has been brisk and entertaining.

News flash: it just got real.

All of the characters have been fleshed out to the point that now we see some conflict amongst them and not just between them and episode villains. This is where a lot of shows balk, screw up, choke. Not here. And neither do the writers take the show in a direction unwanted with that conflict. Well done.

Also they increase my respect in the area of new blood. While they are introducing strife into the protagonist party, they are also introducing us to new characters. No half-assery here. Not only are any new characters interesting and believable they are entertaining. Well done.

And best of all in my opinion, the mark of a truly great thing. They keep the main hooks in place. Many things change to much and loose the audience they had and do little to gain a new one (i'm speaking of anything here: Books, movies, tv shows, video games). Many things try to hard to keep what they had and bore the audience they have. The balance is a shy creature that many fail to capture.

Lie To Me catches the little guy smoothly without missing a beat. Insightful, entertaining change with loyalty to hooks that captured our hearts in the beginning.

Well done.

I adore Paul Ekman PhD and have followed him for 39 years. I have read every book he has written and to watch this series was watching him. His theory is based on science and that I love. It is not just a theory but fact based. It is not a complex science and anyone can learn his techniques. You will enjoy the relationship between the cast and go on a magical journey of micro expressions and watch up close when he catches then in a lie.

I loved season 1 and 2, but with this season I would say the show has officially jumped the shark. Roth's character in season 3 was waaayyy over the top. Let's look at this from a realistic point of view (I know, I know, you say "movies are for entertainment; escapism, etc"...and I agree, but everything has a point of absurdity) and then from a Hollywood POV.

If this were in the real world the Cal character would have been killed very early in this season, because he "gets in your face", but he has nobody to back him up and he is not an imposing man, so some of these criminals he confronted would have killed him without a second thought. And a lot of these people would not submit to his "interrogations" because he has no authority to detain them, arrest them, or whatever it was he was doing when he hauled them down to his glass booth. Lastly, his business would not last long because he has no professionalism at all.

Hollywood POV: As an actor, his mannerisms and posture left a lot to be desired. As one reviewer said, he was just plain obnoxious, and I honestly don't know if that was the character or the actor, but it got old real quick, and it was a turn off. I don't know if the writers and directors changed this season but I could see and feel the difference in the show. And what happened to the "science of face reading"...seems like it took a back seat to all the other shinanigans written into the show.

I wanna be Cal Lightman when I grow up!! I'm a teacher and believe it or not, the techniques they use in this show actually work and it's helped me to help my students better.
