2 Discs Of Some ~K-I-L-L-E-R~,

Well.... He did it again! Tech never disappoints me - NEVER! I have alot of respect for tech, for the things he says in his songs, the style he has created, and the fact that he gets no respect from the industry or the radio! It's too bad alot of people shrug him off and won't even give him a chance- they are missing out on the most talanted hip-hop artist ever. 1 Question- WHY IN THE H*LL don't radio stations play him? I could take any song from either disk and make it a huge radio hit- it would be better than most of the crap that is played OUT repeatedly every day. How about something fresh, and mind blowing? I have all of his albums and this one is just as good as all the others, he has not missed a step in his career. He was GREAT, is GREAT, and will always be GREAT! Real Techaneena fans know whats up. Shouldn't everybody? CHECK THIS and ALL OF TECH N9NE's ALBUMS OUT! HE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! PEACE

This album is def not Everready (IMO techs best album) but it is still a tech n9ne album and I think at his worst hes still better than 80% of the rappers that are out right now. Cant wait to see him perform this album live. So all in all great album just not his best.

Everready Spoiled Me,
By Scottie Bon "ScottieBon" (Indiana, United States) - See all my reviews

After a couple of weeks with Killer in my car, I appreciate it a lot more than I did with my first listen through. I have to say, Killer is no Everready. Now it's simply my opinion, but I think that Everready is by far Tech's best album. Every single track from Everready was brilliant except for "Flash". With Killer, there are a small handful of tracks that I can't even listen to. I was anticipating an amazing two-disc album of all Killer, no filler. Yet, there are some tracks on here that are without question filler material. Which was not something that I was expecting from my man Tech N9ne.
The great songs on the album are as good as Tech's ever been. The last 5 tracks of Disc 2, wow! "One Good Time", "Hope for a Higher Power", wow! But, like I said there are a couple of really lame, uninspiring songs like "The Waitress" that make me press the skip button. The album is also very cluttered with guest appearances. Probably three times as many guest spots as any other Tech release. Some of the artists' very average flow sort of brings down a couple of songs. For example, on "Paint a Dark Picture"(a track that I love) the second verse from Liquid Assassin (who?) just f*cks up the middle of that song. If Tech just does that song alone it could be so much better. Overall, the album is very good. Much better than any other rap you're going to buy in the year 2008. Been listening to it every day since July 1st and it keeps getting better. I just think that I was a bit spoiled by Everready, and I probably had my expectations set unreasonably high. Killer gets a 4 out of 5.

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back,

I found this album to be... disappointing. Tech still delivers amazing flows, but I think his verses are too far and few between. I completely agree with the opinion that the amount of guests really took this album down. When I buy a Tech album, I want to hear some Strange Music. Not, well, just plain strange music. What kills me about this album is the overwhelming presence of repetitive, irritating, uncreative choruses (think 'Biancas and Biatrices'). I want to hear more songs that say something, not just pound simple, idiotic messages into my ears. "The Sextion", for example, is an absolute waste of talent.
On the better side of things, this album's overall production is greatly improved. I really enjoy the way the songs flow into each other seamlessly (most of the time). The beats have gotten much better and reflect a kind of maturity in the music (the rock influences blow me away). Unfortunately, as I noted above, the lack of lyrical maturity and quality degrades the overall sound of an otherwise promising album.

He has finally gone back to some of his darker lyrics like in his Anghellic album. This album combines his party style and his personal heart felt style. Both disc can be listen to over and over again. He does not conform into what is considered mainstream my most, but I actually think that is a breath of fresh air. Tech continues to stay true to his rap foundation, but he infuses soul, metal, and reggae to make what I would consider the album of the year. This is one of those albums you need to listen to more than a few times to pick up on all of messages he has about himself and about the hip hop world. Enjoy!

I purchased the wrong item. I wanted the explicit version, and it is much better in my opinion. Still a great album.

Fresh Breath of Air,
This review is from: Killer (Bril) (Audio CD)
I really have been enjoying Tech N9nes latest album Killer. The beats are original and fresh. As always, Tech's raps leave you wondering why he is still not on the radio. If you are a person that likes the more materialistic type of rap containing references to money, hoes, and rims you should look elsewhere, this is not your joint. Tech's rhymes contain deep content that is void in most rap\hip-hop releases
At first finding out that Killer was going to be a 2 CD's I was a bit worried. Many artists have failed at the double CD release, but Tech spreads great content throughout both Disks. In my opinion this is the best rap CD released in 2008.

Ok, so here's how this is going to go: you're going to have some haters because Tech is becoming more "commercial" and there are some tracks you can skip on this CD. But so what, there are THIRTY TWO songs on this release, you can't expect them all to be golden. "The Dark Side" section of the first disc is the same Tech we've always known from Anghellic, and "The Sextion" is the same Tech we know from Celsius. All in all, this is another Tech N9ne release, and if you compare him to any other artist in the business now, he is leagues above them. I agree with everyone else, Everready was his best CD (aside from Anghellic and Calm Before the Storm, which may be "too dark" for the average rap fan). And this isn't _as_ good as Everready, but if you're a Tech N9ne fan you need to go buy this CD just like all of his other ones. It's better than Mizery Loves Kompany in my opinion. Features: Paul Wall, Scarface, Ice Cube, and a bunch of new artists (which, by the way, I'm not hatin on like the rest of the reviewers are).
Bottom line, just go buy it and decide for yourself. The album cover (in case you aren't up on things) is absolutely hilarious and makes fun of the Michael Jackson Thriller cover.. compare the two... hahahaha. |
