The game features 310 cards, taken from the KB Quest Blue Starter Deck and its Boosters. Designed for an easier jump into Killer Bunnies world, players will find many of the funny cards and addictive game play, without the more advanced mechanics that the core game contains. Killer Bunnies Remix is a stand alone game - it has everything you need to play tons of different cards without buying costly expansions. While not expandable with the other expansions as the cards have their own, limited edition back design, you will be hard pressed to want to expand further. Of course, the cards fit standard card sleeves, allowing the backs to be concealed and therefore fully expandable. Then we discovered that the Blue Starter Deck has many advantages over the remix.
1. The cards are more durable. They are thicker and sturdier.
2. The remix version is not expandable, so what you get is what you've got.
3. Once expanded, the Blue Deck and its compatriots can really get the game crazy.
4. The Blue Deck and expansions seem to work better with larger groups, whereas remix works fine for small groups.
So if you are planning on playing KB with just 3 or 4 people and you don't care to see every card in the set, the Remix is for you.
However, if you think you would be interested in expanding your cards, get the Blue Deck.
Either way, an excellent game!
We have spent long nights playing this game and we have not yet played a session that was over in under an hour. This is a LONG game, but thankfully you can change that by removing the number of carrots in the game. (The game ends when all carrots have been acquired by players.)
The Remix version adds in some of the best cards from most of the expansions, so if you wanted a good collection, this is the version to get.
My husband and I were first introduced to Killer Bunnies five years ago, when our friends purchased the regular starter set (blue, I believe). As young, childless couples we loved playing the game. Unfortunately the more we played, the more decks (or colored sets) our friends wanted to buy . . . and I'd imagine it was costly in the end.
A couple years ago, my SIL bought this remix version for hubby and I in a family gift exchange. They didn't even know we had played (and loved) the game previously. After not having played the game in a while, we found the remix version entertaining and intense enough to excite our former Killer Bunnies passion.
This year, we bought the gift for my brother and his wife. We played as three grown couples, four people new to the game, and again this Remix set was perfect to introduce beginners to the game and still fun enough for those who had already played.
My main point: save yourself the money you can drain into the regular set, and just buy this Remix version. I'd only recommend the regular set for avid gamers who know they love Killer Bunnies.
