This album/CD is steller, these guys knew what rock was all about in the 80's, a true peice of art work. The CD they released "Dirty Weapons" compares to no other artist(s), truelly a must have if you liked this CD, you MUST treat yourself and be blown away by "Dirty Weapons". GET IT?!!!. ENJOY FELLOW ROCKERS!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Killer Dwarfs' killer debut - reissued, September 27, 2010
This review is from: Killer Dwarfs (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1983, this self-titled album was the debut album from Canadian rockers Killer Dwarfs, a band that had all the potential in the world to be a huge name in the "hair metal" scene, but remained one of the 80's best kept secrets. I chalk it up to their name and image. They just didn't fit the typical metal stereotype.

I first heard Killer Dwarfs with their final album Method to the Madness and ended up working my way backwards, but I've really come to enjoy this album. It probably qualified as metal at the time, but looking at it now it just seems like a classic sounding hard rock album along the lines of TKO, Rail, Starz and Moxy (or Triumph and April Wine if we're going with Canadian comparisons). The songs are melodic, there's a great rock n' roll energy, and Russ Dwarf's high-pitched vocals really stand out. Highlights include the rocking "Heavy Metal Breakdown" and "Can't Lose," but the whole album is quite memorable, even if it does lack some of the polish and humor of the band's later releases.

Anyone still interested in 80's hard rock and metal really ought to have some Killer Dwarfs in their collection, and while this album is a logical starting point, you'll get a better feel for the Killer Dwarfs sound with their 1986 follow-up Stand Tall.

Edition Notes: Killer Dwarfs was finally reissued on CD in 2002. The reissue features a slipcase and three bonus tracks. The liner notes are pretty sparse, and don't mention digital remastering or where the bonus tracks come from. I'm guessing they're b-sides. The sound quality is pretty decent, though not quite as good as the Stand Tall reissue.
