Biography

Jerry Lee Lewis, the Killer, is the rock n' roll singer-songwriter and pianist, whose enduring image will be him standing at the piano, limbs flailing, quiff flying, while he belts out "Great Balls of Fire" - his signature tune.

Lewis developed his style early, mixing boogie-woogie, rock, gospel and rhythm and blues. As a youth he was expelled from university for playing 'worldly' music. He moved… Read more in Amazon's Jerry Lee Lewis Store

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 Stars: Great Series From Mercury/Polygram, September 21, 2005
This review is from: Killer: The Mercury Years, Vol. 2: 1969-1972 (Audio CD)
24 great, mostly country, tracks from the Killer. If you only know him from his Sun Records period, then you need to hear this. He puts his stamp on each song, whether it's rock, blues, country, or gospel. On most of these tracks, Jerry Lee sounds like he was still at the top of the charts. He wasn't, except for a few country hits, but most of what is here is better than what was on the charts. Also included, several tracks from his "Live In Church" recording - with JL's always interesting comments between songs - which Mercury decided to shelve until this release. The informative 12-page booklet has recording information and an excellent essay by Hank Davis.
