A unique fusion of soul, reggae and rock that hit big time.,

This review is from: Killer on the Rampage (Audio CD)
This was Grant's most successful album and its unique fusion of soul, rock and reggae made it very different from most of the music it was competing with at the time. "Electric Avenue" was the big hit but the other songs were very good. Like Stevie Wonder, Eddy Grant is a multi-faceted artist who can play many instruments and write and produce his own material.

The disc has a glitch in it on track #7 at 1'54". Exchanged for another copy. Same problem. Refund processed in a timely fashion. Very disappointed. My favorite Eddy Grant disc. Will not buy again.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Every song is a winner. From Electric Avenue to Latin Love Affair, this rocks. Don't miss this one. If you do, you will be sorry. Rock on!

Reggae-blues-calypso,
By Gary Selikow (Great Kush) - See all my reviews

First released in 1982, when Eddy Grant was riding the crest of a wave.
The reggae-blues-calypso music , that was the hallmark of Eddy Grant, was phenomenal, My favourites inlcude the Electric Avenue, the laidback , I Don't Wanna Dance, the samba Latin Love Affair and the energetic Killer on the Rampage. True that it shouldn't be the fist album to intoduce you to Eddy Grant, it should be a great part of your reggae collection.

Eddy Was The Coolest!,

This album plays like the soundtrack to my college freshman year in 1983. Even with its 80's electronic beats, it still sounds fresh. I dare you to not sing along!

Eddie Grants Best and Most Complete Album....,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Killer on the Rampage (Audio CD)
The Other Bimbo Reviewer who said it was Average Needs to Quit taking So Many Drugs and get her head checked !!! Eddie Grants later albums are all Just Mediocre Attempts at Capturing the Pure Jamaican Fire evident on this Masterpiece. Eddie should have Stopped recording after this Ablum so he Would have Been Remembered at his Best and Killer on the rampage is Better than Electric Avenue, there are about 7 Really Good songs on this Album... What were some of the songs on the Diamonds and what album ??? HA,HA,HA,

I have had this artist's song "Electric Avenue" stuck in my head since the early 80's. I once saw Eddy Grant at the old Hi-Time liquor store in Costa Mesa. He saw me buying a corncob pipe with my friend Alex. He winked at us and yelled "You boys gonna have high time tonight" in an Asian accent, which I thought was odd. He seemed like a nice man.

Eddy Grants Worst.,
This review is from: Killer on the Rampage (Audio CD)
This is definately Eddy Grants worst album!!
Hearts and Diamonds is his best album, and then Going Broke. Don't buy this album as a introducer to Eddy Grant buy all his other albums. Just because it has one hit "Electric Avenue" ( Which isnt his best) on it so buy " Hearts And Diamonds" or " Going Broke". The album overal, is somewhat of a normal reggea standard. |
