3.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
i was excited about getting this book because its so big. but the puzzles have small squares with most of the page wasted. the layout is also bad, because of the way the sum squares are grouped; is not as easy to read as most of the other books. nice idea for the extended layout, and good puzzle toughness, but bad presentation format.

Once you're accustomed to Sudoku, you can move onto Killer Sudoku. Once you're accustomed to Killer Sudoku, this appears to be the next step.

I've only worked through about 5 of'em so far, and they appear to be the most challenging and interesting variation of Sudoku. These puzzles appear to be designed where you have to make full use of the Samaurai set up to finish them.

As far as the design and set up of the book, I like it a lot. The dimensions are about the size of a sheet of looseleaf paper, and the answers to the puzzle you're solving are just a couple pages away, printed underneath a puzzle a few pages ahead.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone experieced with Sudoku and Killer Sudoku. Good job DJAPE.

If you like Killer Sudoku and you think regular 9x9 became too easy for you, then I would recommend to shift to Killer Samurai Sudoku. It will take you longer to solve just one puzzle because of the the intersections of 5 killer sudoku's.

You will have alot of fun and time will just fly by!

I'm a killer sudoku addict and like the Samurai format as well, but the type and squares are a bit small on these. Otherwise fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Puzzles, September 29, 2010
It took me a while but I worked all the puzzles in the book. DJPE is my personal favorite puzzle source. The book layout and look of the puzzles works for me.

Thanks for the hours of brain fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great puzzles; problems with this edition?, March 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As I always automatically purchase anything by DJAPE, I bought this before realising it's a second edition of one I already have. The info on Amazon did not make this clear. But, what the heck - I finished that one long ago and need more samurai killers to do. I'm not that good that i remember every puzzle I've ever done!

The format of this edition is better (answers at rear instead of down the bottom a few pages on) - I often tear out a puzzle and put it on my Very Special Clipboard to do. The page fits better on my VSC. Unfortunately there seems to have been a printing problem, as the lines separating digits in the nonets are absent on half of the puzzles (Right hand side of page). This alarmed me at first, but now I am actually quite enjoying the challenge of working things out with just the number total shapes in dotted lines - almost makes me feel I'm doing zero sudoku! (I'm out of those now too). I don't suppose it was intentional, was it???

5.0 out of 5 stars The best on the Market, September 2, 2009

I find regular sudoku puzzles way too easy and the added challenge of the Samurai configuration is just the ticket. Killers are my favorite and the last few puzzles in the book can last me a few days as I try to get a toehold. Any other sudokus pale in comparison to Djape.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great if you're tired of regular Sudokus, February 18, 2009

This is a great book for the person who is getting tired of normal Sudoku puzzles. I spend about an hour on each of these and I haven't even finished the "easy" ones yet.

This book combines the best of Killer Sudokus and Samurai Sudokus. I'm buying the next volume

The overlapping puzzles are difficult and the logic is fun to figure. I have not finished the puzzles in this book but they are fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenge and variety!, August 27, 2009

This review is from: Killer Samurai Sudoku: 55 puzzles (vol.1) (Paperback)
I am a long term fan of Djape - the puzzles this guy creates (I'm assuming it's a guy; don't know why!) are more than just functional logic puzzles in the genre. They are interesting, really challenging but oh boy, when you figure out the patterns or get that one little number to break the deadlock, it's exhilarating! If you don't like having NO number clues, you'll have to try something else - I'd recommend the regular samurais by the same author (or anything else!). But rather than entering and erasing all the time, one needs to look for the patterns, and exclusion/inclusion becomes similar to being a detective. I have bought just about all of Djape's sudoku books and I will buy any future publications. I don't think it's stretching the truth too far with a website called "Perfect Sudoku". Enjoy!
