Book Description

Sweet Valley University(R) June 9, 1997
Jessica Wakefield and Nick Fox had planned the perfect romantic vacation--an intimate week alone, sailing the Pacific Ocean. They didn't plan on having to save a guy from drowning after his boat capsized. They didn't plan on taking the stranger aboard. And when their emergency radio goes dead and the boat's motor cuts out, they're trapped--in more ways than one. Because the man they've rescued is no victim. He's a skilled hunter--and Jessica and Nick are his prey. And in the middle of the ocean, there's no one to hear their SOS.

"Eric, you are such a kidder!" Jessica laughed coyly, tickling him under the chin.

"I'm not joking," Eric said, running his fingers up and down Jessica's bare neck.  "In college, I was the best dancer in my class."

Jessica grimaced behind her fake smile.  I don't care about you, I don't want to hear about your stupid life...the words ran over and over in her head like a mantra.  All I want is to see Nick again. Eric's sleazy fingers were working their way down to the neckline of Jessica's T-shirt, stroking the skin underneath.  Jessica chewed at the inside of her cheek so she wouldn't cry.  When are you going to fall asleep?

Eric's hands wandered into unwelcome territory.  Luckily for Jessica, a loud clap of thunder sounded and she jumped to her feet, getting as far across the cabin as she could.

"What's the matter?" Eric asked, looking irritated.  "We were just getting cozy."

"I'm sorry," Jessica apologized.  "I hate thunder...that one really caught me off guard."

Eric patted the empty seat next to him.  "Come back here," he said seductively.  "I'll make you forget all about it."

The thought of getting close to Eric again made Jessica violently nauseous.  "I can't sit still--thunder makes me really nervous.  I have a better idea.  Why don't you teach me some of your dance moves?  I'll run up on deck and get my radio so we can have some music..."  Jessica dashed for the stairs without looking back to see if Eric was behind her.  When she reached the deck, she slammed the door to the entrance shut and rammed a heavy deck chair under the doorknob.

Heavy winds and sheets of rain assaulted Jessica as she backed away from the entrance.  Seconds later, Eric's fists pounded against the doors, nearly breaking the flimsy wood from its hinges.  "If I were you, Jessica, I'd run and hide!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.  "Because I'm coming to get you!"

1.0 out of 5 stars Has anyone seen Dead Calm?, March 27, 2000
This review is from: Killer at Sea (Sweet Valley University(R)) (Paperback)
I have noticed this with a few Sweet Valley books, but more so with this one. Am I the only person who has seen Dead Calm? This was a complete rip-off...not simple the same premise, but practically the entire story, except the violence and sex toned down for teenagers! Were the writers of Dead Calm given a cut of the royalties? I should hope so...
