3.0 out of 5 stars not that good of a book
i read this book, expecting it to be somewhat thrilling from the looks of the cover, but really the book was a pretty big bore. it didn't keep my on the edge of my seat, and the only reason i kept on reading it was because i didn't want to waste my money. i give it three stars though instead of two, since the ending was actually not to bad, it managed to surprise me.

This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
When I saw this book on my library's shelves, I knew I had to read it. I love murder/suspence/thriller books and since there are not many to choose from in Young Adult fiction, I had to read it. It has short chapters which is great for people who can't stop in the middle of a chapter like me. But I definitly do not recommend this book for kids under 13. It goes into exellent detail on the charctures deaths. I read this book in 3 hours because I could not put this down. Literally! I took it with me all around the house! The end of the chapters leave you hanging so you just have to read on. I thought I knew who it was but I was wrong. I suspected the real murderer once but then said nah that's impossible. I was soo shocked and I even gasped a few times. I cried a lot and I also got mad. The end really shoked me and I had to explain the story to myself a few times before it sunk in. You really feel like your Britney with all the emotion Sean Olin put into this book. The end is amazing and full of suprise. I give this book 5 stars(it would be more but it doesn't go higher) and it's my favorite book. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Crazy, June 20, 2006
This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
Because I am extremely interested in forensics, I plucked this book off the shelf (secretly i hoped the book was about killing Britney Spears. Its not!) Basically the book is about the grotesque (somewhat explicitly described in the novel) murders of all the people who were close to Britney. The reader is never sure who the killer is, although they may have their suspictions. The alternating narrations of the main characters (including that of the killer) enhance the mystery and suspense. The book did have a handful of grammatical errors, otherwise, it was very unique and a good read. If you're prone to nightmares, read only during the day and in the presence of a very menacing and protective dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet Romance Gone Wrong, February 16, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
Britney was perfect. She was beautiful, dating the star of the Hockey team, and had tons of friends. One night something happened that changed everything. After a party celebrating the Hockey teams good game, and after Britney and her boyfriend had a fight, Rickey drives Britney home. Shortly after, Ricky is killed in a horrible car accident. At his funeral, Britney decided to tell everyone that he had proposed to her. After all of this has happened, Britney thinks someone is trying to kill her.

Killing Britney was definitely one of the best books I have ever read. It's exciting, sad, and mysterious. I love how the author used very good description so I was able to have a good picture of what was going on in my head. This book will definitely be one of my favorite books, and Sean Olin is now one of my favorite authors. Everyone should read this book, you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Killing Britney", September 29, 2005

It was very unexpecting, and page turning. Some parts were extremely unneeded. It was deep, easy to follow, but at the end, sorting everything out took a while. A lot of it didn't make much sense, until the end, and thats why a lot people might have dropped it. It was interesting and I read it in 3 hours, today. I only gave it 4 stars, because it took too much time sorting everything out, and i had to go back and reread pages a couple of times. But the book is very interesting, and it does make you wonder. I thought this book was going to be boring, because I thought I knew the solution, but it changes in the last 3 pages. Its a good read, I recomend it for people 13+ anyone under that, wont understand it.

5.0 out of 5 stars CSI in book form., January 16, 2012
This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
This is the second book by Sean Olin that I have read, but it is the first that he wrote. His other book, Brother/Sister, I won from Librarything's Early Reviewers and It was amazing. So after finishing up with Brother/Sister I had to know if Sean Olin had written anything else and lo and behold, he had. I had an amazon giftcard I had won and had been waiting to use. Well I ordered Killing Britney and for a while it sat there on my bookshelf, unread. I couldn't bring myself to read it. I was nervous that it wouldn't live up to the expectations. After all, I had never heard of the book or the author until I had won his book so who knows, maybe there was a reason I had not heard about it. But eventually I had nothing to read so I gave it. I flew through this book. It's relatively short and it took me a day to read. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to read this book. Sean Olin is a very talented author. His books read like CSI episodes and as someone who watches CSI on literally a daily basis, I love these books.

This one is about a girl named Britney who used to be an outcast until she dyed her hair blonde, went on the Southbeach Diet and bought herself a new wardrobe. All of a sudden little mousy Britney became one of the most popular girls in the school. A member of the elite "Hockey Wives" whose boyfriends are the star players on the school hockey team, Britney has everything she ever wanted. Until her boyfriend dies in a mysterious car accident. And then slowly more people around her are dying and it seems like whoever is killing these people is trying to get to Britney. She has to find out who is after her before it's too late.

Sean Olin's books have you guessing until the very end. I was surprised up until the last page.

2.0 out of 5 stars Definately Meant For the Younger Crowd, October 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
I normally enjoy the Young Adult genre yet I really just didn't enjoy this book. I didn't finish it for it wasn't interesting to me. I'm not sure if it was the writing style or the style but I wasn't a fan. Everything is given away at the beginning and the characters were oddly developed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book Nerds Review, November 19, 2009
By
Anna "Book Nerds" (Pinellas Park, FL USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
This book was awesome. Seriously. I honestly kept guessing until the very last chapter about who was responsible for the murders and who was tormenting Britney. Not only that but once you DO find out there is still another twist to the story. It never stops! This is a mystery in it's truest form.

The writing wasn't the best, but it was good. I believe Sean Olin was 19 when this book was written, so it's even more impressive in that case, but I can't remember where I found that information out at. Visually it was well written as well, with as little description as possible Olin managed to describe everything around the characters, and the things they interacted with.

The characters were also believable, which seems to be something that most books lack. However, this is also the only downfall to the book - not the characters being believable, but the characters themselves. Although they seem believable, I didn't really care about them. Like the murders in the book? I simply read through them, I wasn't shocked by the person being killed, I wasn't saddened by any of the killings. I simply didn't care.

The plot was strong too, Olin did a very good job at leading you on until the very very last second. It was a tiny bit all over the place, switching back and forth between characters and what they were doing. Which leads me to one of my favourite things about the book: the alteration in watching the characters. Olin makes you think at least four or five times throughout the book that you know who is running around causing all the mayhem. Then, suddenly, you're watching that person. And by watching that person, I mean of course, watching them die. Just when you think finally you know who it is, he teases you with the fact that you're wrong. Again.

And boy, was it gory. You wouldn't expect for a book to be that way right? Not to have that ability since it's just words, and gory is more of a `visual' word (at least to me it is), except Killing Britney was every bit as gory as the title suggests. Blood? Yes. Lots of it. Actually I'm quite sure the reason we've not heard anything else from Sean Olin is because he has in fact become a serial killer! This book has everything from murder, to sabotage, bloody killing and bodies crunched up and spewed about. An arm here, and arm there, legs back a mile or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars New age mystery novel, September 25, 2009
By
Redhawk Readers (Frisco, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Killing Britney (Paperback)
Killing Brittany is a story about a young teenage girl who transforms herself after her mom dies and becomes the person she always wanted to be. Then people she cares about start dying and she thinks she is next. As more people die, secrets about Brittany's life start spilling out. This was a very interesting, compelling book. It is very well written and keeps you guessing until the end. It captures you once you start reading and doesn't let go until the very last page. The ending leaves you questioning her Brittany's sanity and makes you want more. I give this book five stars just for the way it was put together and how it draws you in.
