A lot of people have been getting tired of the whole played out metalcore sound and have been moving towards hardcore music that takes its lead from the late 80's- 90's melodic hardcore bands. Examples include Champion and Comeback Kid, both of whom have gotten pretty damn popular lately.
Killing the dream combine the screaming vocals of a band like Taken with an occasionally melodic, always driving sound, littered with awesome breakdowns and gangshouts. Id say this would appeal to fans of bands like Comeback Kid, Terror, Modern Life is War, Stay Gold, and the like, and it defiantley has enough replay value to keep it in your cd player for a good while From the blood-curdling scream that starts off the cd, you know your in for an incredible ride, and the intensity does not let up throughout the album. My favourite tracks are Picking Up the Pieces (check out the breakdown on this baby), By Now, and Before your Fall Asleep. Fast-paced, moshy, occasionally melodic, always heavy, this band are D-E-V-A-S-T-A-T-I-N-G and i can guarantee you they will be massive once word starts getting about, especially now they signed to Deathwish Highly recommended |
