The only disappointment as far as this album goes is how expensive it is to get your hands on it here in the States. Another amazing release by my very favorite Aussies. Well worth the wait!

Something was different about Killing Heidi from the moment I heard "I Am", which featured on the Spider-man 2 soundtrack. And as I put the CD in my car for the first time, after hopping off the train, it struck me what was different about this album: evolution.
Think of the major tracks off each album. Listen to the differences between Mascara, Heavensent and I Am, while all great songs in their own respect, the evolution from one to the next goes from great to best. Songs of note are of course the major track I Am; Not For Me (if you want to understand the evolution of their music, listen to that one); Calm Down makes you want to grab some buddies and go for a road trip, perfectly shown in the newly released film clip and Your Hands furthers the standards set by I Am. Overall, a wise purchase for the Killing Heidi fan, definitely the best so far, and it will be interesting to see where they take their music next!

Next to John Farnham, Killing Heidi is well known worldwide for the good and bad reasons. In this album, Killing Heidi after a much needed hiatus reshaped their image, toned down their style and Ella took out her piercings and looked less Gothic, and this new look suits her. This Australian Band has come of age and is ready to conquer the soft rock/pop music world. It is rare for a well known band to open with a hit song first on a album but 'I am' is a classic and I loved hearing its ethereal ambience. But my favourite song of all was 'Calm Down' after hearing it at the recent 'Aid for Asia Appeal Concert'. It is a song that is sung with a clarity that is so wonderfully perfect.
All the songs are well worth listening too and I know this album will be listened to by myself for some time to come. I am very proud of my fellow Aussie band. Go for gold fella's. |
