phylis the ford theater is allowing the sales. the washington post was wrong and the lady who wrote the review refuses to explain why she dislikes the book. Ron Paul supporters seem to be a cult who have ron Paul as God
Thought I would put my two cents worth on this discussion. The thing about America that everyone can agree with is freedom of speech. If Bill O'Reilly pissed off Ron Paul supporters with his disrespect (which I am sure he did). He is receiving a taste of his own medicine. He has a forum where he can spew hate and lies as much as he wants to, but he sure doesn't appreciate it when the shoe is on the other foot. Alan R. Robisch--please remember this when you are spewing the same BS about Ron Paul supporters. They have a right to an opinion just like you and your God Bill O'Reilly. Perhaps Bill O'Reilly should learn to respect House Rep. Ron Paul.
I find it very amazing that you all know exactly where all these reviews are coming from. Where do I find all this info in the profile pages? While I'm sure there are some people rating it negative to hurt the book without reading it, its very insulting to the people who actually read it and disliked it to say every one star rating is an upset Ron Paul fan. Who says its not a Herman Cain fan? or an Obama fan?
How does that compare to other books? I'm too lazy to check, but I'm sure a lot of people who rate something one star only have very few other ratings, the question would be, how much different is the ratio for this book.
I have read a few of the "one star reviews" and yes some of them are from Ron Paul supporters, some of from people who are not Ron Paul supporters, who for various reasons do not happen to like Bill O'Reilly and his ideaologies and philosophies. There are also a group of people who do not for various reasons do not like Abraham Lincoln, and wish to tear him down too. From what I have seen here the amount of"one star" reviews that are from those that actually do not like the book itself is quite small.
Then a whole lot of folks instead of "taking the high road" decided to behave like petulant liitle children and "occupy" the Amazon web site and the Facebook website and flood them with nonsense like posting "Ron Paul 2012" dozens of times. Or using foul language in their posts. Or posting their manifestos. Only a very small group on Facebook actually managed to post intelligent arguments in defense of their views, Many resorted to the old tricks of the Far Left and the Far Right. Such as "If you don't agree with my views I will insult and demean you." Many here on the Amazon website resorted to outright lies in their reviews, many were so lazy they only put their user names on other reviews. They did Dr. Paul no favors with such tactics.
Now, Mr. O'Reilly think there are only a few supporters who travel to straw polls by bus, all the while hacking into on-line polls and voting over and over again. Now O'Reilly thinks there are enough of us to destroy the rating of his awful book? Grow up, Bill.
"While I was at the hotel to-day, an elderly gentleman called upon me to know whether I was really in favor of producing a perfect equality between the negroes and white people. [Great Laughter.] While I had not proposed to myself on this occasion to say much on that subject, yet as the question was asked me I thought I would occupy perhaps five minutes in saying something in regard to it. I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause]-that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied every thing. I do not understand that because I do not want a negro woman for a slave I must necessarily want her for a wife. [Cheers and laughter.] My understanding is that I can just let her alone. I am now in my fiftieth year, and I certainly never have had a black woman for either a slave or a wife. So it seems to me quite possible for us to get along without making either slaves or wives of negroes. I will add to this that I have never seen, to my knowledge, a man, woman or child who was in favor of producing a perfect equality, social and political, between negroes and white men. I recollect of but one distinguished instance that I ever heard of so frequently as to be entirely satisfied of its correctness-and that is the case of Judge Douglas's old friend Col. Richard M. Johnson. [Laughter.] I will also add to the remarks I have made (for I am not going to enter at large upon this subject,) that I have never had the least apprehension that I or my friends would marry negroes if there was no law to keep them from it, [laughter] but as Judge Douglas and his friends seem to be in great apprehension that they might, if there were no law to keep them from it, [roars of laughter] I give him the most solemn pledge that I will to the very last stand by the law of this State, which forbids the marrying of white people with negroes. [Continued laughter and applause.] I will add one further word, which is this: that I do not understand that there is any place where an alteration of the social and political relations of the negro and the white man can be made except in the State Legislature-not in the Congress of the United States-and as I do not really apprehend the approach of any such thing myself, and as Judge Douglas seems to be in constant horror that some such danger is rapidly approaching, I propose as the best means to prevent it that the Judge be kept at home and placed in the State Legislature to fight the measure. [Uproarious laughter and applause.] I do not propose dwelling longer at this time on this subject." -Abraham Lincoln, September 18, 1858: Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas - Charleston, Illinois
The reason I am irritated is because Lincoln was NOT one of our greatest presidents ever, not by a long shot. If I knew nothing else about the man, his racism would be enough. For some pinhead like Bill O'Reilly to put something like this out, all the while spinning himself into some kind of "historian" makes me ill... to say the least...
Bill O'Reilly's constant marginalization of Dr. Ron Paul is a different subject but it just so happens that many of the good doctor's supporters also see through the fallacious attempts by O'Reilly to prop up a tyrant.
By the way, the only accurate poll is one that asks the opinions of ALL registered voters in the US, not a couple thousand.
Michael, My reply to those who do not like Lincoln for various reasons, I am certain of one fact. People will still be talking about Lincoln long after you, I, Ron Paul; and Bill O'Reilly are long gone from this earth.
Do not forget that Bill disqualified Ron from his Poll for having too many votes. When you have the power o reilly has over the conservative drones of america, we must use new ways to fight back against O reilly, as he is the number one offender for using his spin to attempt and squash any ron paul support.
Please besides ORielly being an Establishment Shill his book was both nauseating and filled with the same Lincoln Propaganda the State has used to justify itself and use Force on it citizens like they were enemies! THE LINCOLN MYTH!
I don't need too write that book. Professor Thomas Di Lorenzo of the University of Loyola has already done that. It is impeccably researched and sourced. Read the books: The Real Lincoln and Lincoln Unmasked. Until then you are reading Propaganda from the Establishment Statist like Bill O'Reilly.
