I am a history teacher and this is a real review. While there are minor mistakes within, the overall content is compelling. I found new information I had not previously encountered in this work. I would strongly recommend you read the book and judge for yourself. There are too many Bill haters reviewing this book with baseless comments. You people should get a life! If you spent the time you have consumed bashing this book and actually read it, you might have learned something yourself. If you check the countless bad reviews you will find this is the only thing these "people" have ever reviewed on Amazon. Very sad indeed. It is no wonder the rest of the world is beating us at everything we do. All we can do is attack each other when we try to educate ourselves. Read the book, hate it, love it, burn it, I don't care, but read it before you judge it.

I found this book to be riveting. From the beginning, it grabs your attention and holds onto to it. The most impressive sections of the book are the abundant details surrounding Booth's psyche and the final hours of the President's life. Once you enter these sections you are drawn into the story as if you were watching a movie. This is a must read for students studying the Civil War and President Lincoln. No textbook has ever presented this material in such a fashion. Good job here!

I could not put this book down!!! History, American history, was never a big interest of mine. However, this exciting rendition about the assassination of our wonderful, wise, kind, President was one of the worse travesties that happened in this country. He was beyond outstanding, as a person, and one of the fairest Presidents to date. Bill O'Reilly knows how to captivate and keep the reader entranced with with a subject that one would never guess could be that exciting. I wanted to get to the actual assassination and yet I dreaded the inevitable. I never wanted to change history more than when John Wilkes Booth was lurking in the presidential box waiting to end the President's life. As a student I would have loved to have had a brilliant history teacher such as Mr. O'Reilly because he knows how to write and keep you fascinated with every word.

Time seems to have passed when we felt our students and our Patriots were getting a true picture of our founders and their intentions. This is the best total Historical Presentation of all sides of this important time in History and doesn't disguise the truth and political feelings of that era. It emphasizes the importance of how Lincoln himself felt and even having premonitions of his death.

The fact that most of the negative reviews on "Killing Lincoln" were against Mr. O'Reilly and not so much the book itself was telling. I enjoyed the book and read it for what it was intended, an opinion on the facts. I don't believe it was intended as mandated high school reading, but rather a "think out of the box" theory. Enjoy.
