Product Description
The murder of the Chairman of the Federal Reserve sends the stock market into a tailspin and creates the opportunity for a small group of conspirators to reap a vast fortune from the market collapse. In the midst of the backlash and fear which the catastrophe engenders, the true threat to the Nation emerges as the instigators move into position to take control of the economy itself. The President forms a task force to find the Chairman's killer and appoints Tory and Jace, the nation's leading operating systems specialists, to join a select team of investigators. As the chase intensifies, clues emerge, and the team begins to unravel the full extent of the plot. The conspirators, busily trying to cement control of the economy, cannot risk exposure and mark the members of the task force for death. Tory and Jace must escape the maelstrom because they have identified their quarry who is using the millions gleaned from the market collapse to lead the team on a world wide chase. As the trap closes, the pursued becomes the pursurer, and the enormity of the conspiracy bursts onto the scene and sweeps away all that Tory and Jace thought they knew.
About the Author
Meet the two halves of the writing team of JoAnn and Jim Carland. Scholar-Entrepreneurs, the Drs. Carland have written more than a dozen textbooks, more than 200 scholarly articles, started more than a dozen businesses, and are internationally known in the entrepreneurship literature. Formerly licensed private investigators in North Carolina, their fiction writing began with a mystery and detective series featuring two career weary college professors and focusing on plots evolved from actual cases which they investigated. The Carson family series begins with Hidden Malice. They branched out into international thrillers with Prometheus Unleashed, and its sequel, Killing in the Market, both fast paced, edge of your seat action dramas. Life partners since 1971, the Drs. Carland actually began their relationship in the first grade, when at the age of 6, Jim was caught shooting spit balls at JoAnn and had to spend the rest of the day standing in the corner. JoAnn likes to joke that their marriage actually meant that Jim did not have to pay back all the typing paper he borrowed during high school. When they trundled off to the University of Georgia to work on Ph.D. degrees, they had two sons, aged 2 and 4 at the time, and had to swap the boys in the parking lot as one or the other dashed off to class. That was more than a dozen ventures ago, spanning software development to forensic investigation, and their many experiences have enriched their story telling.
