A great book that shows 2Pac's life,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Paperback)
IF you listen to rap-hiphop music then this book is the one for you. Tupac starts his life as a little church boy, and ends up to be the most valuable rapper, one of americas biggest thugs, and the deadly target to the gang "Crips" of Las Vegas. Cathy Scott seems to be a great author. She is a Detective/publisher for the Las Vegas Police Department, and dealed with Tupacs death on the night of Sept. 6, 1996. The way that Scott expresses actions and scenes in this story makes the reader feel like he/she is right their that moment. Some scenes such as ones during his shooting seem rather gory, but fulfill the crime scene and really show what was going on. The description and the selection of words realy helps the reader to comprehend the dialogue, and police reports from the killing. Tupac's thug life was expressed with great dignity. He may have been one of the world richest, and most valuable rappers of all time, but Cathy goes to show clues that lead up as to why he may have been killed. Was it the way he expressed the lyrics and terms in his song, such as "Thug Immortal," or "Take Money," as he reffered to rapper Biggie Smalls in one of his songs that he produced, just before he died. When I read this book, I was set in a variety of different moods. I am a great fan of Tupac, and still was up until his death. I can relate, and see as to why he may have been killed. His lyrics and his actions were on the cocky side, such as "no niggah can drop me,". If you do not like to read about gansters, or hardcore rappers, then this wouldnt be the book for you. This book goes through tupacs young years, to his early ghetto years,to his first recording years, to his hits, and up until the night of his death. It is definately created for one who was a true fan of Tupac's. I feel that It is a great book. The author really helped me to get through the book smoothly and understand all of the terminology in the police reports and autopsys. This book is to definately be read by readers over the age of 12. It has rather harsh language in the story, and some gore in the photos accessed in the book. Therefore, I recommend this book because it shows Tupac's struggles in life, and it is basically teaching a lesson about how gangters may be tough, and may be bad, but most of them do not survive in toaday's society. Therefore, I really recommend this book to all readers that are either fans of Tupac, or any other rap or hiphop singers.

DEAD OR ALIVE, TUPAC LIVES ON,
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Paperback)
I got this book to get the "whole story" on Tupac's death, because there was always bits of info and I never knew what the actual facts were. This book was really informative, it represented the facts and covered everything from the night of his death, motives for it, and it also discussed whether he's dead or alive. I love Tupac and although parts of the book were sad it brought all the circumstances around his death together, which was a real plus. I definately recommend this book for all Tupac fans!

This is some heavy research. Very impressive.,

This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Paperback)
What really stands out about this book is the research. It's painstaking. The attention to detail is extraordinary. Most authors blow off this kind of detail, but Ms. Scott's extra effort helped me feel like I was there, riding in Tupac's car, or with police detectives. I'm more of a fan of crime stories and detective work than of rap music, but the story she tells about Tupac's life and background really makes me relate to and like the guy. Still, it is the exhaustive research and details of the investigation that made me unable to put this book down. Even if you know nothing of rap or Tupac, like me, this is a fascinating read.

The Killing Of Tupac Shakur,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Paperback)
This book took me a short time to read cover to cover, while quite engrossing, it is also a very sad story. I was very impressed with the simple, flowing way that this book unfolded the incidents around the killing of Tupac. From his early days to his last, this book, touches on many aspects of his life as well as the detailed information surrounding his assassination. Although a police reporter, Cathy Scott's information on this subject is quite detailed, I would of liked to have heard from more eye witness accounts. Her investigation into the speculation of Tupac being alive is quite thorough, i am still not totally convinced that he is not. But's that's another story!

The Death Of An Angel,
By Karla (Cluj,ROMANIA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Rap Hiphop) (Mass Market Paperback)
2PAC...was,is,and will be forever in our hearts.I really don't know what to believe:is he death or not...because here,in romania a lot of magazines keep saying that he is not death...why?Just becaue they wanna be close to him,or what? suspicious events:13th is a day which usually doesn't bring us good news.Interesting is that there weren't any pictures with PAC bleeding. In his song "Life Goes On"he is talking about his own death . The driver of the car,SUGE KNIGHT hasn't been present at the inquiry of the event."i'm not paid to solve murders"said him The white cadillac in which where the assasins, just after the murder ,passed near PAC's car,but nobody tdyed to stop theme. His video,"I Ain't Mad At Cha"was released rigt after the shoots. in that video,2pac was an angel in Heaven...and there are a lot of theories like these...anyway,his lucky number seems to be 7... Even if they say yhat he isn't death,I think that we should respect him, even in his death! Keep ya head up and folllow your dreams! Peace, love and respect for this ANGEL!

Tupac Shakur: A Revolutionary & A Revelation,
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Rap Hiphop) (Mass Market Paperback)
With so much controversy about his death, I decided to get the facts from this shocking, yet very informative book from acclaimed journalist Cathy Scott. While also telling you about the man himself, Scott reveals the many flaws in the investigation of the shooting that took place on the night of September 7th, 1996 - the scene of the crime not being secured quick enough, the fatal release of key witness Yafeu Fula, Suge Knight's attorney playing hard to get with Les Vegas Police and the confusion of other witnesses Frank Alexander and Malcolm Greenridge - which makes you wonder just how much effort did police put into this case? Not just providing the facts, Scott also presents the many possible motives and turns heads to several known suspects. An interesting read, showing you not only a violent, but tragic story about a young man who lived hard and fast all the way to the end. With information on Tupac's background and other events related to him and his murder, you get to know about the man as well as the musician, with additional comments made by various writers - Kevin Powell, Michael Eric Dyson - and those who knew him well - Jasmine Guy, Suge Knight, a moving letter from his Godfather and a final comment from his mother, Afeni Shakur. The book even uncovers the rapper's mystique - his obsession with death, the alive theories and many other strange coincidences. 'The Killing Of Tupac Shakur' is a revelation that will both shock and fascinate you in more ways then one. A must have for Tupac fans.

I haven't finished reading it, but so far, this book is very well written, it gives unbelievable descriptions and informations on the most popular gangsta rapper Tupac Shakur's life, family, friends, death, and his beefs with some others. It's a MUST GET for all Tupac Shakur fans, or just anyone, because it's a huge shock to the music world. Also to the US...fantastic job by Cathy Scott...peace :)

Very much worth the read,
By Reviewer (Toronto) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Rap Hiphop) (Mass Market Paperback)
I place this book beside another three books on Tupac which I feel are must reads: [1] "Back in the Day" by Darrin Keith Bastfield, [2] "Holler if you hear me" by Michael Eric Dyson, and [3] "Got your back" by Frank Alexander. These three plus Cathy Scott's book paint a complete picture of his life and death. Cathy Scott's book is thoroughly researched but some facts that are commonly excepted as fact are expressed differently by her. It is evident in this book that she wishes she could talk about the investigation into Pac's death but the sad fact is that there is no investigation. Witness's refuse to cooperate and the incidents on the night of his death make the whole situation difficult for the police. Scott tries to circumvent this very hard but in the end she fails. The book also deals with the murders of Biggie, Orlando Anderson, Yafeu Fula and discusses how moronic the "he is alive" theories are as well. Very good book overall and a very quick read.

Only God Can Judge Him.,

This book was very informative. Most of the information is correct, but some important stuff isn't. The author does a good job telling the whole story. If you are a true Tupac fan, I recommend this title.

HE IS ALIVE,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Killing of Tupac Shakur (Paperback)
Nice book, too bad he's alive. Isn't it obvious? The 7-day theory alone says it. Come on, All Eyez On Me is released on 02/13/96, and he dies 07/13/96? EXACTLY 7 months later? And he writes & records Don Killuminati in 7 days? And he was shot on 7th, 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12 - 13 = 7 DAYS!@$ he died on 13th .. at 4:03 pm, 4+0+3 = .. duh! 7! He's alive every1.. returning in 2003 to prepare for the election campaign, when he changes the world truly .. oh yeah! All Eyez On Me, "BOOK 1" and "BOOK 2" .. hmm, what were Machiavelli's 2 Writings called? BOOK 1 and BOOK 2 .. :)
