Gr 5-8 Through dramatic photographs (including one that shows a baby seal with blood superimposed on it) and abundant statistics, Bright makes an overwhelming case against trapping, hunting, and killing rare and endangered species for use as luxury items. Although imported from Britain, the book presents an international viewpoint. Unfortunately, the format is confusing. The excellent photographs share the pages with too great a variety of graphics, bits of information, testimonials, and text. Nevertheless, Bright does present an impassioned plea to halt the exploitation of wildlife before it is too late. Purchase this especially if you have books on hunting and trapping for balance in the collection. Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, N.Y.
