5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best DVD's I have ever seen
And yes, I mean music and movie dvd's. This dvd is amazing. Being a fan of Killswitch Engage ever since their debut came out on Ferret, I HAD to buy this. A huge documentary, I think it's something along the lines of an hour and a half, tells the story of how the band formed from many different bands, to Jesse leaving, to right now. It includes all the music videos, which...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool but way too perfect
I don't know, its just too perfect. I wonder how much of it is real. I mean its too perfect for a live performance. Sounds incredible and the pic quality is insane! I enjoyed it but i have only watched it 3 times and now i'm bored of it. The best part has got to be the comical documentary. "Howard Jones black man" its hilarious! I'm glad to see everyone has a...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best DVD's I have ever seen, March 20, 2006

And yes, I mean music and movie dvd's. This dvd is amazing. Being a fan of Killswitch Engage ever since their debut came out on Ferret, I HAD to buy this. A huge documentary, I think it's something along the lines of an hour and a half, tells the story of how the band formed from many different bands, to Jesse leaving, to right now. It includes all the music videos, which is great. The bonus features are great, and often humorous, especially when their roadie gets naked and crawls into bed with Jordan, the drummer of AILD, who is passed out asleep. And the greatest thing about this dvd, is the amazing live show they play. They sound fantastic live. The show is about 75 mins and never lets you down.

I'm sure some of you have read what I just wrote about how well they sound live and are saying to yourself "Oh they over dubbed the concert, blah blah blah". I have seen plenty of live Killswitch Engage videos that weren't "overdubbed" and they sounded fantastic. My friend has also seen them a few times and has told me how amazing they are live.

For all of you complaining about the "overdubbing" and how lame it is, did you even buy the dvd? If you did, and you can actually read, you will realize that it says "Live DVD Audio Mixed By Adam Dutkiewicz at Zing Studios" and "Audio Mastered By Drew Layne at All Digital. NYC Oct. 3, 2005." So of course the big show they have on here is going to sound well. Anything is going to sound great if Adam is in charge of the sound. (You hear about this in the dvd.) And I bet that almost all of the music dvd's you complainers buy has a live show that is "overdubbed" or mixed and mastered.

All in all, I love everything about Killswitch and their dvd. They are one of the few bands that you never have to skip a track when you are listening to any of their cds. I highly recommend this to any Killswitch fan. It is a must have and is definitely worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an example of how a band should do a dvd, January 19, 2006

I remember back in May of 2005, Adam D. mentioned that there was no plans for a dvd. But I guess sooner or later like most bands, they figured they had to do it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Words can't even describe how great KSE's dvd is. All of the music videos are included (big plus), and an incredible in-depth documentary on the band with so many different artists (Unearth, God Forbid, Lamb Of God, Shadows Fall, Soilwork, and In Flames to name a few) and their takes on the band, as well as some words from former frontman Jesse David Leech. The setlist for the show was perfect, nothing but the best songs they've ever done...and did I read some people mentioning "overdubs?" Who cares if the sound is too perfect? Enjoy it for what it is, this may as well be the best show KSE has ever done.

Other honerable dvd mentions:

Machine Head - Elegies
Cradle Of Filth - Peace Through Superior Firepower
Soulfly - The Song Remains Insane
Anthrax - Alive 2 (2005)
Lamb Of God - Killadelphia
Shadows Fall - The Art Of Touring (awesome if you're a strong fan of SF and enjoy bootleg-like footage, otherwise stay away)

5.0 out of 5 stars Setting the standard of excellence from the start., December 13, 2005

Killswitch Engage isn't for everybody. People into softer music might find them too hard and true metalheads (whatever those are) probably find them too soft. That's the beaty of KSE though. For most of us, their hard edge backed by melody is enough to draw fans of all genres. Those who are fans are diehard though. A great combination of energy and songs filled with emotion.

{Set This} World Ablaze is an amazing DVD. A solid DVD filled with not only an amazing on stage performance but a surpisingly good Documentary of the band. I didn't even expect a documentary about the band on this DVD, but boy am I glad it's there.

The documentary is the gem of this DVD and that's saying a lot considering how good the performance on stage is. It was great to see the evolution of the band. It's especially good to see how they still have such a good relationship with Jesse David Leach, former frontman of KSE.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT for KsE's first dvd.., January 6, 2006
This review is from: Killswitch Engage: Set This World Ablaze (DVD)
KsE is my #1 favorite band(although they departed with old singer Jesse Leech shortly after getting into them....which is explained also in the dvd by the way)This disc has great footage and lots of it.behind the scenes a documentary and all the videos..even one I havent seen!My only gripe with the disc is this..Its widescreen which is great..BUT the sound is only in digital stereo NOT 5.1,like so many others are..oh well,I guess.Everything else is perfect though, camera angles and all.I've seen them 4 times so far live and this disc sums it all up for anyone who hasnt had the pleasure of seeing them...amazing!BUY THIS DISC!

I enjoyed it but i have only watched it 3 times and now i'm bored of it. The best part has got to be the comical documentary. "Howard Jones black man" its hilarious! I'm glad to see everyone has a sense of humor! Oh and the band Red Tide is incredible and everyone should be checking their music out. They are not together but I pray they do at least one reunion show. Justin Foley on the drums in Red Tide is truly out of this world. You gotta hear it! Red Tide was a band no one knew about back then but today they are the talk of the town. The KSE DVD is probably a good rental at best. It depends on how die hard you are about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Debut DVD!!, December 2, 2005
This review is from: Killswitch Engage: Set This World Ablaze (DVD)
After seeing what Lamb of God did with their Killadelphia DVD, I was thinking that since they pretty much set the bar for excellence in video and audio quality for a concert DVD, I may be disappointed, not so! Aside from not giving us a 5.1 mix, the audio was dynamic and sounded superb, although nowhere near as "raw" sounding as a live performance probably due to some studio "touch ups". Either way you get an awesome sounding stage spectacle and a fun look inside the band from several interviews with the members as well as perspectives from other bands in the genre. This DVD was fun, entertaining, and as a fan of hard rock and all it's sub genres, pure eye and ear candy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Live DVD Ever Released, November 26, 2005
This review is from: Killswitch Engage: Set This World Ablaze (DVD)
Killswitch's first dvd is all that I expected and more-- it features an amazing 75 minute concert with a great set list featuring many old and new songs. The concert is very good, as usual Adam D. and the rest of the band own live with great stage prescence (Adam D. does pushups during one break in the song), and the documentary is even better. The documentary is also over an hour long and talks about the bands history, starting from when the members were in separate bands, and tells you anything you ever wanted to know about Killswitch Engage. And you won't be let down by the bonus features! Buy this DVD you will watch it over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Killswitch Engage: Set This World Ablaze (DVD)
yea, this is a pretty good dvd. I normally don't buy any music dvd's, but I made an exception because I needed to see how it came out. I was at the show and it was pretty rediculous. Although they may have "enhanced" this dvd, they still play very tight show. When I first saw these guys live in Lowell, MA I couldn't believe they were playing as well as they were. Since, I was at this particular concert I can honestly say it sounded exactly like the DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please....., February 12, 2006
By
This review is from: Killswitch Engage: Set This World Ablaze (DVD)
everyone bitching about the overdubbing should keep their mouth shut if theyve never been to a KSE concert.
Yes, there are some overdubs, but.....anyone who's ever been to one of their shows KNOWS that they play a really tight show.
They probably didnt need the overdubs and it was obviously a bad choice to do so. It probably has to do with Adam D. being the producer of the band, and being the perfectionist he is, he probably wanted a dvd with 100% audio quality.
Overdubbing or not, this DVD is worth ATLEAST 4 stars.....buy now and get blown away.
