Same of the shame, more of the pain, October 25, 2005

Kimagure Orange Road, or just Orange Road, is without doubt the pinnacle of romance anime from the 80s (Or just about ever). Creating a predictable romance triangle, the predictable characters of Kyousuke, Madoka and Hikaru go through predictable escapades and mishaps during their predictable love life in high school.
And still look awesome doing it. Despite some ''cringe-out-loud'' moments, this series continues to manage to captivate. Putting any and all predictability aside, this series has got the heart in the right place and shows it. The animation, while not the best, is enjoyable to watch, both in style and overall quality. The directing is calm, soothing and, when need be, hectic and exciting. The music supports this without fail, and the characters are simply a joy to watch. Add in some comedy that, while it will not always manage to make you laugh, isn't in the slighest unpleasant to look at, and you've got yourself a wonderful way to waste an evening.
At least I did.
