As advertised- Not every aggressor needs to be shot, beaten with a baton or potentially run over with your vehicle; the three main forms of self protection. Having a 2 shot Pepper Blaster from a high quality company such as Kimber will render the aggressor fairly helpless even with a hoodie tied tight and sunglasses on as the blast is so powerful that when fired INTO the wind at an aggressor the chances of blowback onto your own face are minimal- the majority will hit where you are aiming within 10' and will go around the sunglasses. If you suffer some blowback, blink your eyes as quickly as you can and as long as necessary. Baby shampoo will help alleviate your skin that has been come in contact with the discharge. Water, milk, etc. do not alleviate the painful experience of being hit with pepper spray. The intent of this self defense item is not to kill or severely injure a criminal intent on robbing you but rendering them temporarily harmless while you can escape, dial 911 and let law enforcement handle the situation. Pounding on the criminal when they are blinded by the Pepper Blaster will only lower law enforcements empathy towards you unless the aggressor has harmed you and you have chosen to retaliate in kind. You have 2 powerful shots with this small yet easily handled pepper spray. Do NOT use pepper spray against an aggressor with a firearm pointed at you! Comply and live to tell the tale another day. Your wallet, cash, jewelry and cc's are not worth being killed over when you try and pepper spray the aggressor as the chances of the aggressor firing multiple times once sprayed are very high and you are placing your life in danger needlessly.

I have purchased nearly every pepper spray available, and this is one of my two favorites. The other is also made by this company... the Civilian Piexon JPX Jet Protector in Black W/O laser These are the two best non-lethal self-defense weapons on the market.

This is a fraction of the price of its big brother weapon, but nearly as effective. It is clearly in a class far above the "lipstick tube" pepper sprays that are only effective when an assailant is virtually on top of you... and then probably gets as much spray on you as it does on them. It has sites like a real gun and can be easily and quickly drawn, aimed, and if necessary, fired at an assailant. It also has several holster options available for those who want those for everyday carry.

This effective weapon gives you up to a 13' range, and shoots in a concentrated spray that is far less likely to blow away or blow back on you in a wind. It fits well in my hand and also my wife's much smaller hand.

After owning one of these, we opted for a second one, and then four more for both nightstands, cars, and offices. My wife has to walk to her car in the dark in the winter and keeps this in her hand while she walks.

The Civilian Piexon JPX Jet Protector in Black W/O laser has an even longer range, but is harder to fit in a pocket or purse. We also have two of those, but this is the often-carried device of choice. It is in my SUV console, in my jacket pocket, on my nightstand, and same for my wife.

I purchased this item for my daughter to carry. I am a former police officer, and I had to get sprayed with OC pepper spray to be able to carry it on duty. The spraying experience was suitably impressive. Meaning, getting pepper spray in my eyes was one of the most miserably painful experiences of my entire life, and I was indisputably helpless for at least 30 minutes after getting sprayed. Also, after using and seeing the product used in the line of duty, I was quite impressed with how effective OC is as a nonlethal weapon.

Aerosol cans of OC have drawbacks as weapons. Wind can blow the OC back into your own face (common); and the velocity of an aerosol spray can make them easy for the target to duck. The Kimber Pepperblaster, by using an incendiary charge to propel the OC gel payload at a much faster velocity than aerosol sprays, avoids the problems aerosol sprays have, while increasing the effective range.

As a father, I would feel better if my (adult) kid was walking around with a double-barreled shotgun loaded with #4 buck. But until my kid is legally able to carry a firearm, I sleep better at night knowing she has her Pepperblaster within reach.

For those of you who don't like long reviews, -----bottom line up front----- do not allow this item to be exposed to moderately extreme temperatures.

I realize I am the outlier here, but I'm going to go ahead and press on with my review. I owe to you to give you this disclaimer: do not allow the Kimber Pepperblaster to be exposed to extreme temperatures. I would give it 1 star, but I realize part of the fault is my own.

I purchased one each for my wife and I. As a matter of fact, I purchased the Remora holster for it so I could "everyday carry" it. The size is fantastic, it fits well in the hand, it's concealable, and if presented to an assailant in the right manner...it should yield the reaction of "oh crap, I've picked the wrong person to mess with."

For quite a while, I've carried the Kimber with me. Unfortunately for my wife and I, we both work in facilities where even this tier of personal defense item would be considered grounds for termination. It would leave disparaging scars on our employment records that would affect our ability to get hired in the sectors that we work in.

So - what to do? When in transit between our vehicle in the parking lot and our workplace, we're forced to leave the Kimber Pepperblaster in our vehicle. In the summer, my Pepperblaster split along the top seam and the chemical inside seeped through the cracks of the split. Just today, my wife called me to tell me that hers exploded in her center console (this in the midst of one of the coldest winters on record for the United States). For us this lack of dependability is unsatisfactory.

We live in Illinois. Illinois is prone to temperature fluctuation.
