4.0 out of 5 stars Speak Up, Sawako!, February 20, 2010
This review is from: Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
In this volume, everyone's talking about Sawako's friends, Yano and Yoshida. They say that Yano dated a ton of guys in middle school and that Yoshida is a Yankee. And the source of these rumors? Sawako! Or so everyone says. Yano and Yoshida don't believe it at first, but then they overhear Sawako saying that they're not her friends. Meanwhile, Sawako gets the idea that Yano and Yoshida are unhappy because their association with her is damaging their reputations. She tries to stay away from them, but it's harder to go back to the way things were than she expected. How will this mess ever be resolved?

I liked this volume, but I did get a little bit frustrated with it. It's one of those where the whole thing could be resolved if the characters would just talk to each other. Interestingly, though, this is point of the whole volume. The confusion was a little bit unrealistic, but, eh, I still enjoyed it. The end was a little cliched, complete with a showdown in the girls' bathroom. But at least this part shows us that Sawako does, indeed, have a spine. And it's nice that this manga focuses on Sawako's friendships as well as her romantic interest. Shojo manga tend to overlook these relationships.

This is a good volume overall. It's a little frustrating and cliched, but it's got plenty of heart. It's cute and funny, and the art is still wonderful. It's impossible not to love this warm little manga.

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You, Vol. 1 Continuing from Vol. 1 the storyline stayed really entertaining, but also manage to add some new drama. With Vol. 2 the drama added some new views and and a test for our main charter. So to for the people who haven't read this one yet. Why don't you buy Vol.2 and read to see what drama she goes through and how she makes it through. For the people who have read this Vol. I hope that you where as intently reading as I was to see what would happen next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Volume 2 - Rumors, October 9, 2009

This review is from: Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You, Vol. 2 (Paperback)
When Yoshida and Yano hear that Sawako is the source of the rumors about them their first reaction is to laugh. They think the idea of Sawako as a backstabber is so absurd it's funny. However, as vol. 2 progresses, one misunderstanding after another leaves Yoshida and Yano fearing that Sawako actually doesn't like them at all. To their surprise, they discover that they think of Sawako as a friend and are hurt to think she doesn't feel the same.

As for Sawako herself, she wishes she was friends with Yoshida and Yano, but gets it into her head that being around her will hurt the popularity of the two girls, and Kazehaya as well, so she starts avoiding them all... but she discovers that she can't go back to being the loner that she was. Thankfully the misunderstandings are cleared up by the end of the volume so the unhappiness of the three girls isn't dragged out too long.

However, Kazehaya's distress is not fully resolved. He is relieved to learn the real reason Sawako avoided him, but then feels that he needs to step back and let Sawako better establish her friendship with Yoshida and Yano before he tries to take his own relationship with her further. Volume 2 concludes with Kazehaya wistfully wondering how long he should wait before pursuing Sawako.

We see the nameless wavy-haired girl from vol. 1 again at the end of vol. 2, and while we still don't know who she is, it's looking like she may be the source of the rumors.
