5.0 out of 5 stars The Guide to the Japanese Mind, November 5, 2006
This review is from: The Kimono Mind: An Informal Guide to Japan and the Japanese (Paperback)
First published in 1965 this is a book about the history and culture of Japan. Bernard Rudofsky writes about the importance of rice, how the Japanese act on trains, the taste of the Japanese being shaped by the laws about dress and manners, their complex language, bathing as a passion of Japan, about the beauty of Japanese inns and how the Japanese handle summer (which is a more important topic than you may think).

This book is delightful and something to read on a rainy day. People who want to see a snapshot of Japan in the 1960s or enjoy Yasujiro Ozu films should buy up this book, used or new.
