4.0 out of 5 stars Total-ly What An Album Is Supposed To Be!
Total's album came out in 1998 but I didn't listen to it until 2003. I was too young to listen to it in 98 because I was only 8-years-old, but to be able to hear an album from 5 years ago and still have it sound like it isn't old or something dug up from the closet is amazing. Total's album is filled with Pam (the lead singer)'s powerful, diva vocals, Keisha's sexy voice,...

In general, I thought that this was a pretty decent album (the rating should be 3 and a half stars) however, personally, I thought it could be better. It only goes wrong in one area: Production.

Total's album came out in 1998 but I didn't listen to it until 2003. Total's album is filled with Pam (the lead singer)'s powerful, diva vocals, Keisha's sexy voice, and Kima's innocent, playful style. Pam stands out on this album. Her vocals are amazing especially on the interludes which are like little songs in themselves. From beginning to end, you are singing-a-long and dancing to the music. It was a great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars This joint is Blazin!!!, October 20, 1999

When you think Kima, Keisha, Pam think red hot. The CD is all that. This urban, hip style R and B group has satisfied me for the second time. Unlike most CDs, I can press start and listen to the joint the whole way through. My favorite track is "The Most Beautiful."

5.0 out of 5 stars Off the Heezy, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Kina Keisha & Pam (Audio CD)
I really thought this cd was well developed. I think the girls have truely matured and with their second album showed us what the real Total was all about. The whole cd was great especially the two singles that were dropped "Trippin" and "Sittin at Home." But in addition i also enjoyed "Bet She Can't" "Rain" "Move Too Fast" and "Press Rewind" Although I would have to say due to the raunchy lyrics the age group definately went up on this cd, I think it was great and deserves much props.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, October 20, 2002
This review is from: Kina Keisha & Pam (Audio CD)
...From start to finish the album is sexy, smooth & soulful. The unique voices on all three of the ladies blend fantastically together, and with the exception of TLC, Total was probably the best female group in the game. The album's hypnotic first single "Trippin" flew to #1 at the end of 1998, and the singles remix featuring DMX dominated the charts well through-out the beginning of 1999. The follow-up single "Sitting Home" was just as successful. The track hit the top 10 after 3 weeks on the charts, and the remix (which introduced the now incarcerated P. Diddy protogee` Shyne) hit #1 on the Rap Charts. The girls had done it again.

While the first album was an easy favorite, the second album put the first one to shame. Keeping the bad girl image strong, they pumped out an album full of sexy hits such as "Rock Track", the sizziling "Press Rewind" (Featuring Carl Thomas), the smooth "If You Want Me" (Featuring Ma$e), the grimey "What About Us" [Remix] (Featuring Black Rob), the blunt "Ain't No F**kin Me 2nite", & the neo-soul influenced "The Most Beautiful". Producer Missy Elliott gives a few of her protegees some practice on this album also, as rap divas Mocha ("Do Something") & Space ("Move Too Fast") drop a few bars to Total's advantage.

Though the album is heavy on the hip hop tip, this trio is at its best when they are performing ballads. The album's best track "Rain" is absolutely amazing. "I Don't Wanna Smile" is a gorgeous ballad that Faith Hill would feel comfortable with & "Bet She Can't" is a dirty little love number that would keep Lil' Kim & Foxy Brown inspired. The album is as close to a five star effort as you can get, but with all these fantastic songs its annoying to have interludes seperating them. This is why pointless interludes like "Masterbation" & "Truth or Dare" have no purpose on here what-so-ever.

Even though they were an untouchable team, Total parted ways in early 2000. The trios last material "Crave", was released on the 3 Strikes soundtrack, and it was a fantastic way to say goodbye. Rumor has it that the trio is back together and they are working on a new album, and if this is true then I honestly can't wait. These girls are one of the best groups of all time, and they put today's girl groups ...to shame. If your looking for a sexy album filled with tracks that you can party too, and that you can mellow out to, look no further. Its gonna be hard to find an RnB album that is better then this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars quite a let down, July 18, 2001
This review is from: Kima, Keisha & Pam (Vinyl)
I kept hearing all sorts of good things about this CD and I was so excited when I bought it.I got home and opened it,listened to it and was so mad that I wasted my money on it.There were probably 3 good tracks off the whole CD.Most the songs had horrid beats. Most of the songs were very badly written.I would not recamend this CD to anyone who has some music taste. The only good tracks on this CD are "Trippin","Sittin Home",and"I Don't Wanna Smile".A must avoid!

4.0 out of 5 stars female groups watch out, December 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Kina Keisha & Pam (Audio CD)
their the biggest threat to tlc, and better then destiny's child, and not many other female groups can compare. jakima, keisha & pam make one of the best female groups of all time. there voices are amazing and they can all hit high notes and sound amazing. this gold album, followed by 1996's platinum self titled debut, shows maturity on the girls part, and will keep fans attached to there amazing style.

the singles off this album are evident. with "what about us" (remix) (featuring Black Rob), which is a continuation to the "what about us" gold single from soul food soundtrack is great, and so are "trippin" (featuring Missy Elliott) & "sitting home". i just wish that the trippin remix with dmx & the sitting home remix with shyne could have made the album.

those singles only set the pace for the rest of the album. despite the interludes (and there are plenty) total really gets into there work. they stand out on tracks like "rock track", "if you want me", "press rewind" with carl thomas, "no f**king me tonight", "rain", "do something" & "i don't wanna smile". these tracks aren't the only good choices though because "i don't wanna", "move too fast", "i tried" & "bet she can't". the only track i wasn't feeling was "the most beautiful".

total has come a LONG way from there debut album and i think that everyone should pick it up because nobody will be disappointed. the rnb feel on bad boy records lives on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pick Me! Pick Me!, April 12, 2000

This review is from: Kina Keisha & Pam (Audio CD)
In general, I thought that this was a pretty decent album (the rating should be 3 and a half stars) however, personally, I thought it could be better. It only goes wrong in one area: Production.

There are 2 tracks that Total will always be remembered for 1)Cant U C (featuring the late great Notorious BIG and produced by P. Diddy), and 2)What About Us? 2 great tracks that embodied everything that Total was about. The first defined their music which was evident through their first album through their hip-hop beats and mood that was designated to them by Puff. The second produced by Timbaland which was edgyer and much more creative.

The second album became confused and it seemed to think that it was Missy that gave them the success from What About Us therefore giving her half of the production opportunities, and turning this album into another Nicole Wray type mood. Still not bad, but not near the potential it could and should have reached.

Top tracks include Mase's guest appearance on the amazing "If U Want Me"; "Sittin Home" and "Press Rewind". Other tracks that deserve a mention are "Rain", "Trippin" and "Bet She Cant".

In conclusion a very, VERY sexy album with some classic tracks; however more Puff and Timbo would have equalled more success.

Thanks for your time.

I luv Keisha

3.0 out of 5 stars Total is an acquired taste., April 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Kina Keisha & Pam (Audio CD)
I am a fan, but I can also be objective. If you suspected that this cd was nothing but Missy lyrics teamed with Bad Boy production, then you're not that mistaken. The album often swings in either direction without finding the right kind of stability. I love Missy, but who told her "Bet She Can't" and "Do Something" were good enough for Total. And how dare Mocha (?) utter the words "Bad Boy" on the latter track? It's been clear for a while that Puffy would rather drop Total for the next Mase or Kelly Price (who also contribute) and he basically set my girls up! A lot of these joints had to grow on me, like "If You Want Me" which lifts the same Seals & Crofts loop as Busta's "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See". Once you get past the beat, you'll see that this is a very beautiful song, and Jack Knight's songwriting skills are impeccable, as evidenced in the new single "Sittin' Home". "Trippin'", "I Tried", and "Rock Track" are all worthy of the past Total, the funky Total. For the future, my beautiful bad girls who I love so dearly despite what people may say, stick to Timbaland, the Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins and Chucky Thompson like you did with previous efforts. These producers have all evolved in the right direction and work well with you. Kissin' ya'll is all that I've been thinkin' of . . .

As much as I like Total, I have to say that I am very dissapointed with this CD. Even though they have enlisted the help of Puff Daddy and Missy Elliot for several tracks on this CD, it still lacks a great deal of Originality. The only tracks that make this CD worth buying are "Trippin" and the remix of "What About Us" .
