A great IR Blaster for my Beyond TV setup. I can control the cable box with this while additional tuners record direct cable connection. This IR emitter allowed me to point my remote at it and it learned the codes needed to control my scientific atlanta Explorer 1850 cable box in about 30 seconds. True it comes with not documents or drivers, but come on, download them from kinamax. Total set up was well under 5 min.

This product does not work with any reasonably recent version of girder. There are also no Windows 7 drivers for this product. I ended up returning it.

This item has no drivers available for it since 2003!The item will not work on Windows 7 or Vista. I spent days! to search the internet and forums to find a suitable driver but had no luck. The manufacture, Kinamax, does not respond to emails. The original chip manufacture does not support it since Kinamax change the usage of the base chip. In other words this make a great $20 paper wieght, and that about the only think you can do with this.

The ADS IR Blaster is ok. It does what it needs to do. I use Beyond TV, and the controls for this blaster pre-configured into Beyond TV. Drivers are available from the link in the description ( http://www.kinamax.com/drivers/IR-BLSTR.zip ), but the Kinamax website doesn't seem to have any other information for the ADS blaster. I was able to train the blaster the remote codes by aiming the remote at it when prompted by Beyond TV ( it took a minute to find the sweet spot for it to recognize the beam even though it blinks any time another ir remote button is pressed in the whole room). When I trained it for another cable box, it controlled it too, but it would also send the commands for the first (changing the channel on both cable boxes of different brands at the same tiem). I also have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 with a built-in ir blaster that I was able to use to control the second box. It looks like the ADS IR Blaster has the availability to add another blinker/ir transponder, but it's not included, and it uses a different plug size than the ones I already have. Overall, if you have a HTPC software package that controls the ADS blaster, then it's good to go. If you don't have a third-party software program, you might have a bit more trouble. The drivers from kinamax's website have no software controls other than the drivers.

I bought this to use with the new comcast digital->analog converter boxes. In linux, lirc would receive IR signals fine, but the hardware is not supported for transmitting.

Virtually Useless,

Inside the box is this product and nothing else. There is no software or instructions, not even the web address of the manufacturer. Some digging around on the web produced a Windows driver, but no application software or an interface specification for writing your own. It may be useful as a replacement for an existing system that has already has one of these devices, or there is a possibility of some functionality with LIRC under Linux. For those with extra time on their hands it could be entertaining as a reverse engineering exercise. As a stand-alone windows device, this item is completely useless, not even suitable for use as a paperweight. Even though it looks cool, the most valuable part of this product is the cardboard shipping box.

No Driver, No Support,

The device is shipped without documentation or driver. Couldn't find either online. Doesn't work with Windows 7 32 bit "out of the box". So it doesn't work. The manufacturer, ADS, sold the product to a distributor, Kinamax. Neither support the product, each directs support to the other. My opinion, ADS dumped unprofitable product on Kinamax who is dumping it on consumers. Buyer beware.

This was the only IR device that I could get that worked within the setup of Beyond TV 3.I had to scrounge around the net to find drivers for this device which comes in a box with no instructions. The device does its job well and you don't have to think about it once it is setup.

This item came with NO instructions and did absolutly nothing as advertised. After searching the manufacturer website and trying to download the drivers, I discovered that there are no drivers for Windows 7. Not sure if it would work with XP or Vista, but I had to return the item.

It took me too long to find this product. I was little worried that it wouldn't do what I wanted, but at the price I figured I'd give it a shot. I wanted to find a computer-controlled remote replacement. I have it set up to where the computer will turn on and off the tv, change inputs, and also change channels on my DirecTV box. Very happy!
