The projects were amateurish and only one or two were even vaguely "stylish". If anything, they were pedestrian, uninspired and quite basic. I have nothing against simple DIY projects, but the execution was overwhelmingly dated and dowdy, especially the chapter on artificial flowers. Truly, the flowers looked like something you would find in a two-dollar shop, even after they had been crafted into finished items.
I would only recommend this book to someone seeking the very simplest of projects, or someone whose creative flair and ability to envisage a finished piece in their own choice of materials is so well developed that they won't be put off by the unstylish execution of the sample projects.
"Handmade Weddings: More Than 50 Crafts to Personalize Your Big Day" offers a FAR more impressive resource for wedding DIY inspiration, while "Paperie for Inspired Living: Stationery and Decorations for Weddings, Parties, and Other Special Occasions" is much more exhaustive (and far prettier) if you're looking for help with crafting your own invitations.
Given the crafting and wedding pedigrees of the authors, I expected much more from this book than it delivered.
The book has lots of useful ideas that look like they would be simple projects to complete. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a DIY element to their wedding. It does have ideas for paper items such as invites and programs as well as simple table decorations/favors and flowers.

Most of the ideas in this book look cheap. Cutesy, but not very classy. Not worth buying or the time spent reading it.Published 19 months ago by sarah grimshaw
