I purchased all the "animals" (TRex, Brontosaurus, and Owl) for my three sons, so my opinion is based on three items and not merely one. Foremost, my boys LOVE their nightlights. Even the two year old twins can use the button to set it to the color they want. Having the option of keeping the light on all night or having it turn off after 30 minutes is a nice touch. The downside, however, is that the charging station is not well made. One is already broken and we've only had the item for a week! The children haven't been playing with the charging stations, so it's just through normal use that the little piece of metal is depressed to the point that it doesn't make contact with the nightlight and thus does not charge it. We like it enough to exchange in and give it another try, but agree with previous reviewers that this shouldn't be expected to last for the long haul. We have also never had the charging light turn green on any of three nightlights - no matter how long we charge it.

Our two daughters (4 and 6 years old) absolutely LOVE the KinderGlo Owl. It is very well made, durable, safe and does not become hot. Our girls really enjoy turning on the owl, when they go to bed. It has become part of their bedtime routine and sometimes they even take her to bed with them. A great feature is that the light can turn off automatically after 30min, which is just the right timeframe before falling asleep, although it can also be set to stay on all night. Since the light can be detached from the base, our daughters have also used it as a little "flashlight", to guide them to go to the bathroom in the night. I have recently also given several of these nightlights (there are also two dinosaur designs) as birthday gifts and have had really good feedback from our friends about this original present.

Please note that the red light on the charger will stay red, as mentioned by another reviewer, even when fully charged. We have not found this to be any problem.

Santa brought these to our boys for Christmas, we have all the characters.
I have a 5 year old who loves to read or draw in bed, a 4 year old who (until I got one of these lights) was afraid of the dark, and a 2 year old who (also until I got one of these lights) used to make me sit outside his bedroom for 30 mins constantly telling him to "get back in bed"!
my kids go to bed SO easily now! no more fear of the dark and these have actually replaced their beloved stuffed animals! AND the green light is bright enough that my 5 year old can read or draw.
Best kids product out there. Some reviews mention that they're suddenly stopped working, I had that problem too and talked to the company. The problem has been resolved and they work GREAT! and they have GREAT customer service. THANKS!

We received this night light in good condition. My daughter was so excited and continued to be so until a little over a month (probably 5 weeks) when it stopped working. The base will not charge it, nor will a second base (we ordered the t-rex for my son) that was confirmed to work on the t-rex. This unit is defective and now she is upset that her little brother still has one and she does not. I guess I will have to find a product from a more reputable company.

This is a great light for my 2 yr old. She likes to look at her picture books when she goes to bed and this is just bright enough for her to do that if she has it in bed with her. It has a 30 min timer so it goes off when she goes to sleep, but if she is still awake she can turn it back on again and the timer starts again. The battery seems pretty good and holds a charge well, we've never had it die on us. The first one I ordered was broken when we received it, but Amazon and the merchant were both very helpful and we received a new one that works great. We were also told that the problem we had with the first one has been fixed for the new ones.

My daughter loves it. Only problem is the battery never fully charges, the red light on the charger stand never turns green.
Sometimes you have to wiggle it a bit, to get contact with the charge tabs also. If it were not for the faulty charger, I'd get another for my boy.

This is a wonderful tool for our little one who went through a phase where she was afraid of the dark. The owl helped a great deal with the transition into less light thus helping her fall asleep sooner. I've seen complaints that the green light wasn't working, but we've had ours for several months now and it is working just fine. It might be a tad bright now that our little one is less afraid of the dark, but she still uses it and we are very happy to have purchased this. I recommend it to everyone I've talked to who has a little one struggling with a fear of dark.

Worked great for 2 months, our son loved it. Unfortunately, after about 2 months, it quit working. The owl can sit on the charger all week but once it comes off it will not turn on.

Sent this to my friends after reading reviews by other customers - my friends say they like it, so hopefully it will last. Bought as a gift for a new baby, and I like the idea of it being portable without the base. I think this makes a good gift.

I have the owl and the moon. My daughters love them. Although only my nearly 3 year old can operate the color/ on off switch. I like to tilt the light off the base to activate and leave it on the base for light. my daughter likes to hold hers. My 6 month old does enjoy holding it though. I use it mostly as a great night light for me! Plenty of soft light for me to see what I need, yet not wake up daddy. I have used it daily for over 2 months. No issues at all. Batteries are good even when my daughter doesn't place it on the base for a couple days. The base has worked great for us. I read others said it was fragile. I have not found that to be a problem. I really like this product and love the cute designs to choose from. I look forward to using these for years to come.
