Maria Kraus-Boelte was widely recognized as the foremost authority on the Froebel kindergarten. Froebel's widow, Luise, called her Froebel's "spiritual daughter." Along with her husband John Kraus, she produced this definitive guide to Froebel's kindergarten methods and materials. The Kindergarten Guide is divided into two volumes. The first volume covers Froebel's Gifts, while this second volume discusses the Occupation materials.
Kraus-Boelte's work was the Bible of the 19th century kindergarten movement. To this day, it is the single best reference for the Froebel Kindergarten.
