A good early math workbook, September 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Kindergarten Math (McGraw-Hill Junior Academic) (Paperback)
This is a usable kindergarten level math workbook. It covers a variety of material and is arranged in a reasonable fashion, alternating the types of activities that need to be done on each page. I prefer these smaller books to the great big volumes. The bigger volumes seem a better value for the money, but they take so long to finish that I don't feel they are as rewarding for the child. It is so exciting for them, as they get to the last few pages, and feel the accomplishment of having done a whole workbook. This book lists at 80 pages, but the first workpage is on page 3 and the last one is on page 64, so there aren't 80 workpages. It touches on the numbers 0-30, both writing and counting (although much more work is done with the lower numbers), ordering, problem solving, shapes, patterns, less and more, addition and subtraction, money, and time. With everything, it is of a supplementary depth, doing this book will not teach your child all they need to know about math of this level, but it will help them to get a firmer grasp on it and to see learning as fun. The recognizable Warner Bros. characters are a plus.
