4.0 out of 5 stars I love these Little Bites!
This will be my first time to write a review for a product on Amazon. And I've purchased alot of things lately on Amazon. I keep telling myself that I should write a review because I am so very grateful for all the reviews I read up on the products that end up helping me to decide on my purchases.

So here goes:

These bowls are perfect for feeding that little one, right? The portion is just right, the colors are fun, and they clean up easily. Not to mention that silicone is safe for the munchkins.

However, the one major flaw, and it is a MAJOR flaw, is that smells cling to these bowls. Silicone is supposed to help and prevent this, but we can tell you, strong smells you cook with will in fact be absorbed by the material. Once this happens, it is very difficult to get the smell out - particularly onion.

Some solutions - don't keep these in the kitchen (perhaps impractical);
or, store them in an airtight location/container. This is unfortunate.

This review is from: Kinderville Little Bites Storage Jars Set of Four (Baby Product)
This will be my first time to write a review for a product on Amazon. And I've purchased alot of things lately on Amazon. I keep telling myself that I should write a review because I am so very grateful for all the reviews I read up on the products that end up helping me to decide on my purchases.

So here goes:

I absolutely LOVE these jars! I'm a very eco-friendly minded mom and only want the best, natural, green products for my son. The fact that this company, Kinderville has created a product that is green and BPA/Phthalate (sp?) and Lead free has my vote!

I only put 4 stars because when travelling with the jars, you have to make sure not to have anything on top of it or else the jar lid may come loose (which happened to me and some of the food spilled out)...but other than that, I would highly recommend these to anyone!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Food tastes like plastic, August 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At first these plates seemed wonderful--unbreakable, colorful, toddler-sized. But now--about five months later--all the food I put in there tastes like plastic. I can clearly taste the difference if I eat the same food off my plate and then try it on my toddler's plate. I will no longer be using these plates.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning! Suffocation hazard!, June 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Yikes, I love these little cups as alternative to everything plastic, however, beware! The silicone cup can form a powerful suction over the baby's nose and mouth potentially suffocating her! My 15-month old likes to bite on the cup tipping the mouth to her face and the wet cup at one time clung to her mouth and formed a red circle mark on her face when I had my back turned only a few seconds. Always keep an eye on baby, always, when using these cups.

5.0 out of 5 stars love love love and worth the $$, September 13, 2009

I looked long and hard for something like this. We love them. Sturdy, nicely designed, weighted well on the bottom. Perfect size for toddler (16 months) and nice colors too. So much better than other BPA-free plastic cups I've tried. Hurrah! They're a little pricier but worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars These Things are Great (but kinda small)!, December 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Silicone is the way to go and these little storage containers are great. The suction on the lids is fantastic, they're unbelievably easy to seal, our toddler LOVES playing with the tops, and we don't have to worry about any of the bad things you might get from plastic or other storage containers.

However, they ARE expensive and they're a bit small to hold all that much. If we fill 'em with blueberries or raspberries to take to the park, they don't hold a full serving and our child ends up wanting more.

They're probably really great for an infant, but a bit small for a toddler. Instead of buying more of these, we're going to look around for a slightly larger size.

UPDATE 10/4/2010: This is kind of B.S. because Amazon will only allow a review for "one product per customer". The above review is for the storage jars. We've just ordered and begun using the Kinderville silicone drinking cups and this update is for that product:

These silicone cups were bought for our toddler whose is weaning from sippy cups to big girl cups. They're great! Perfect size for little hands and non-toxic, unbreakable silicone.

The two 1 star reviews for this product are: 1. "The plates taste like plastic." Pull-ease. There's no plastic, so they don't/can't taste like plastic. However, I think if you don't clean them promptly the silicone can retain some of the "taste" or odor from the food. Still not plastic, though. 2. The second 1 star review is that they are made in China and take away American jobs. Fair enough, but what do you want to bet the computer that was used to type that review was made in China too? NOT RELEVANT.

We liked the storage jars and we LOVE these cups.

Highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars A word of caution, June 29, 2011

I used these cups with no problem with my first son, but my 1-year old who from an early age is a bit more independent and playful during mealtime somehow managed to suction the cup over his nose and mouth as he held it himself. He had drunk all the water out of it and was biting on the cup. Just wanted to caution parents about the possibility. Thank goodness I was right there and helped my panicked child. <=(

5.0 out of 5 stars Bye Bye Plastic!, August 20, 2009
I came across these fabulous bowls, cups and jars for babies/toddlers/kids via a friend and after HOURS spent researching kid-safe and non-toxic alternatives to plastic containers. Somehow, aluminum dishes and cups didnt seem quite right for us. But then i found Kinderville's products.

I have two little ones in pre-school and take great pains to give them healthy lunches and nutritious snacks. Imagine my horror in learning that the tupperware and other plastic containers I was packing their fruit, yogurt, and homemade lunches in contains dangerous chemicals like Phthalates and Bisphenol-A (BPA). These chemiclas leach into food - especially when reheated in a microwave!

I have been thrilled with all the Kinderville products. They are all made of silicone (safe!) and are non-toxic (BPA, Phthalate and PCV-free!). The Kinderville bowls are great for breakfast cereals and yogurts as they have a nice wide base and do not tip easily. And the jars (that come with a nifty lid) have been fantastic for stowing, serving and heating meals. The jars (which you can use for liquids or solids) are perfect for preschool use, and with a baby on the way, I know I'll get great use out of them for years to come!

Best of all, I now have the peace-of-mind that I have eliminated toxins (from plastic containers) from my kids' diets, forever!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's ike a Super Bowl, December 28, 2010

The Petite Consumer reviews the Little Bites Bowls:

Little Bites Bowls by Kinder-ville are stack-able silicone bowls designed for little ones.

Coos

Dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, and microwave safe (they REALLY are that safe and functional).
Testing showed they can go straight from microwave to freezer (Amber loves this for making and cooling instant oatmeal for the kids).
Can be washed on lower or top rack of dishwasher (one less thing to remember).
Low profile and wide base for no tipping (oh yes, we tested this too...it is true).
BpA, Phthalate, and Lead Free.
Bacteria resistant and hypoallergenic.
No worries about accidentally microwaving these (unlike some plastics and melamine).
Non-toxic food grade silicone.
Durable (have been washed again and again, kicked, and chewed...don't ask).
Hold an ample amount of food (2-3 kid size servings).
Virtually indestructible (no worries about dropping it or cracking in extreme conditions).
Come in a set of 4 different colors (choices are never a bad thing).

Boos

Designs are simple but do not really appeal to younger population (something cute would be nice).
Colors are simple.
May stain with heavy sauces (like pasta sauces)
Some strong odors, like onion and garlic, can permeate silicone (but boiling can help reduce smells).
Imported (hey it isn't really that bad).
Not easily found in stores (we got ours online).

The Petite Consumer Says: We love it because it is a "no brainer." No worries about harmful chemicals, breaking, or it being accidentally microwaved, frozen, or put in the dishwasher. It is like the "holy grail" of kid dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best cups for first time users!, May 27, 2010
My daughter learned how to drink from a "REAL" cup at 5 months. These cups are great (Amy Coe makes similar cups that do come with lids also) but they are great for little hands and are very light and flexible. I highly recommend these cups to parents who would rather teach their children how to drink from a regular cup than a sippy. Easy to wash- the only thing that stinks is you can't see through them to see how much liquid your child is getting..Oh well.
