I am new to electronic reading devices. My husband purchased an electronic reader for me that is not a Kindle. I need to know if Kindle books are compatible with other electronic reading devices.

AmeliaAT says:
No, you cannot read Amazon Kindle books on dedicated ereaders other than the Kindle. There are apps that you can download to read Kindle books on other devices, however, including Windows PC, Mac, Android, Blackberry, iPad, and others:

If you download a free mobi book from the Gutenberg Project, those can be read on some other devices or converted. They are also available in other formats, such as the popular EPUB format.
