4.0 out of 5 stars Useful - Non Technical, June 10, 2010

I tried other help-titles and looked at other reviews for the Kindle DX information books but I think this is the most useful. The book presents information on use that is pretty standard, but in a much easier-to-read context. Additional information is provided, like battery life with/without wireless on, how to publish an ebook on Kindle, and how author's earn money through Kindle publishing. This book's author points out some deficiencies in the device and some walkarounds when available, which the User's Guide doesn't mention or offer. Instructions are presented step-by-step and clear. Reader is presumed to own the device and know some basics -- enough to read the purchased book, for instance. Handling/organizing content (files) is covered and since the device is relatively poor in this feature, the information and recommendations are useful. Only 4/5 because the author doesn't get into more detail on file conversion and the possibilities of converting pdf files to make them available to note taking. Some conversion info is presented, but wrestling with pdf files isn't gone into much detail. This particular conversion process might be too technical for this book's scope. If the DX owner needs such info, this isn't the source. This book also doesn't cover any of the Global Wireless features of the Global DX.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really needed this!, May 27, 2011

The Kindle DX is a rather complicated device. I really needed help & this book is it. It's well written. The first thing I learned was how to turn the Kindle off. I recommend that you read it through 1st & then read it & work the Kindle along with what you are reading. Am still in the process of figuring the Kindle out, but this book is quite a bit of help.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than meets the eye, August 18, 2011
This review is from: Kindle DX For Dummies (Kindle Edition)
I thought the Kindle was easy to use - just switch on, read, switch off. No, there's a lot more available to it, and this book helps guide you, as only a "for dummies" book can. A great learning book for those who need it, a great reference guide for the rest.
