I had this case for several weeks without any issues. My Kindle then begin to restart on its own, freeze quite often and loose my place. After some internet research, I found that people were having similar problems. Their solution, as silly as it sounds, was to remove this case. I didn't believe it until I removed the case & have not had a single problem since. For some reason, it seems that the metal pieces that lock the Kindle into place in the case are disrupting something... It is my understanding that this does not happen to everyone with this case & the similar case with a light has had no issues.

I've had this case for about 2 months now, and shortly after I started using it, my Kindle began to freeze in its sleep and I could not wake it up. Finally, the Kindle would reboot randomly after a few minutes of me trying to reboot it by moving and holding the slider to the right. I tried going through all of the troubleshooting ideas on the Kindle Support site, and nothing worked. Finally, I read through some Community Discussions all about how this cover is the culprit for these problems. After reading, I immediately removed my Kindle from this cover and all of the problems disappeared. Apparently, the metal hooks that latch into the Kindle cause random shorts leading to freezing and rebooting problems. I am calling Amazon and asking for a full refund.

returning this after two kindles began freezing and rebooting randomly and continuously. Amazon rep via phone call told me these covers' hinges are causing these circuitry problems. Am in the processing of bundling this cover up for a return and refund. Amazon should take this product off their website if their own techs tell you it is messing up the kindle's performance. This is the only Amazon product I've ever been unhappy with- JAS

This cover, in my opinion, is well designed and well made. It is fast and easy to put the Kindle into the cover, and then to remove it again--faster and easier than elastic corners would be. The lining is a soft dark gray felt. The hinges seem quite sturdy, their main vulnerability would be if dirt or grit got into the sliding mechanism of the top hinge. Also the Kindle is adequately secure once it is there and does not IMO need additional securing along the right side.

The cover is strong and sturdy. The detailing is good and I actually like the elastic that holds the cover shut. It does hold the cover firmly shut, and when you remove it to read, it goes to the back and is out of the way. It will probably the first part that wears out, but I still expect it to last several years of constant use.

I got the pink because I like pink well enough, but mostly I wanted a color that would stand out, and this color certainly does. The color in real life is a little deeper than the color that appears on *my* monitor, but it's close enough to true. Of course colors on monitors vary a lot. I can't think of anything to compare it to, but "hot pink" is a good description of the color.

My main criticism of this cover is it's weight. It's 5.75 ounces which adds a significant amount to the Kindle. I won't dock a star for this, though, because I don't really see how you could make it lighter and still offer the same amount of protection. My wish is for a super-light material that will protect my Kindle when I throw it in my purse and not cost very much, but I think that is unrealistic right now.

I bought this cover after seeing one a friend had and I thought it was a quality product. After receiving the cover and having it on my Kindle for awhile, my Kindle started to re-boot and re-set itself while I was reading and when it was just in "sleep" mode. I originally thought it was something wrong with the Kindle since this problem was happening very frequently, but then I saw some message boards online that said it was the case causing the problem. I've removed the Kindle from the case and it has not re-boot or re-set on its own for a week. It was definitely the case that was causing the problem. I'm going to return my case and get my money back. Do not waste your time or money ordering this product!

This cover is nice and my review is not that it is a bad cover, however it has metal rivets in this and it interferes with the kindle which makes it freeze up, drain the batter (when you have it fully charged), and it loses your place. I purchased this with a brand new kindle, and after putting this cover on, the kindle immediately had the above problems. I did some research and realized it was the cover, probably due to it having metal rivets. After removing this cover, my kindle has not had any more problems. They need to remove this cover from the web site and NOT sell it anymore.

I received this cover as a gift for christmas. I attached my kindle according to directions, then my kindle started to reboot on its own as I was reading books. Amazon gave me a full refund. This doesn't happen with the lighted version.

I was worried at the beginning while my kindle got frozen or even reboot several times for no reason, as I was thinking my kindle was defective. After looking for some information online, it turns out that the leather cover is the reason for that.
I tried to use my kindle without the leather cover, the frozen issues or reboot did not happen again.
It is a problem now for me as my friend in US purchased this for me and now I live outside states which means huge hassle for me if i would like to return or change this cover!

This cover is very nice looking, it feels great in my hands while reading, the hooks are secure, and the elastic band around the outside holds the cover together very nicely-- and can even be used to hold the top flap back while in use.

However, this product has one huge flaw: using it makes the kindle randomly restart. I'd read that some people had this issue, but I decided to go with it anyway, stupidly assuming it had been fixed by now or that it was just one batch. Well, as of November/December of 2010, they are still shipping covers with this issue.

I just called support and they said they're looking into it, and in the meantime they're giving me the lighted one as a replacement, which they say hasn't had this issue. Five stars for support, though. If you're considering buying this one- GO FOR THE LIGHTED ONE. It's a bit more expensive, but for an issue free cover, I'd say it's worth it.

If it weren't for the restarting issue, I would absolutely love it. The pink I got it in is gorgeous, and the cover itself seems well made...aside from the one problem, I've got no complaints.

I was just thinking today that if this cover ever wares out, I'll buy the same one again. It fits so nice on the Kindle. It is also not bulky like some of the other covers are (like one my husband has on his Kindle) so it slides nicely into a pocket in my purse. I love it.
