I have used the Kindle Fire for a few months now and I'm finally ready to rate it. I LOVE the Fire except for one item and it's critical...the plug in for the charger is a "loose" fit and after awhile get's to the point of having to manually hold the cord a certain way in order to charge. I called and reported this to Amazon and they replaced promptly with a new Kindle and charger...when I got the new one a couple days later, it appears to have the same problem with a loose fitting connection, without currently having to manually hold the cord in as of right now, but when is that going to happen?

I think this is a design flaw with the Kindle Fire and a improper fit with their choice of connection with the charger plug. I purchased another set of Kindle chargers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QOM1GK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) for the home and vehicle and those won't work either, It does nothing at all, like there isn't anything plugged in (no power) so that was wasted money. I will say that the additional charger I purchased was a snug fit it just wouldn't work. I am very unhappy with this design flaw because I'm a avid reader...I read atleast 4 to 5 books a week so the Kindle is important to me and if it can't properly charge it's considered a waste of money. I also own the Kindle Keyboard and absolutely LOVED it...the only flaw...it wasn't in color. If I can't find a alternative charger that will work for the Fire I will retire it and go back to either my Kindle Keyboard or look at other alternatives for a color reading tablet.

I would also suggest that Amazon make the charger cords longer than current length for the Fire. It would be nice to have a longer cord so when your sitting in an airport you can charge and read the Kindle Fire without having to stoop over because the cord is to short from wall plug to Kindle charger outlet.

So the first Kindle I got went crazy and stopped working. I notified Amazon and within 2 days I had a brand new one!! They were very helpful and replaced it very quickly. I am impressed. I love my Kindle Fire.... Sure it may have some bugs, and why I had to get it replaced... However, Amazon's customer service is excellent!! I'm very impressed.

I was so in love with my Kindle Fire till I had the same issue that is plaguing the product. My Kindle would no longer charge due to a faulty connection. I promptly got on the phone with support and they said, "not to worry, we will ship you another one". Well I was hoping that Amazon would do the right thing and send me the newer model 2nd gen. But that was not the case. I got my new/used Kindle Fire on my door step 2 days after I called, and hoped upon hope that it would be something I could fall in love with again. But to my dismay the speakers were junk; my cell phone speakers were louder than the ones on my "new" fire. And I know this because I turned both on, played a movie out of Netflix (the same exact one) and put them both up at the highest volume they would go. The Fire was barely audible, while my Android phone was nice and loud with no distortion.

So I once again called support. Now don't get me wrong, they are very apologetic and say all the right words in order to make you feel like they want to help you out. But after 20+ years of being in sales I can tell when someone is blowing smoke. The most they will do is ship another refurbished product out to me. I even asked if I could pay the difference between what the Fire is selling for now (159.00 and I paid 199.00 8 months ago) and get the HD, but I was told there was NO way the computers would allow that. I have no confidence that the next Fire I get will be any better, but I did have to hear again how the refurbishing process is just like the making of a new product (um not from what I can see).

So with that said; I will NOT be purchasing the new HD for my son for Christmas like he wanted. I will go with another product that perhaps will work better than the Fire, and last longer than 8 months. With all the tablets on the market today and the fact that NO ONE had a disposable income any longer I would highly suggest doing your homework before purchasing this product..

When I got my FIRST Kindle Fire as a Chrismas gift (12/7/11) I was very excited. On 5/23/12 I was sent a replacement K/F because there was a problem with charging outlet on the K/F. Then on 10/9/12 Amazon was gracious enough(NOT)to send me another K/F when my SECOND K/F would no longer even turn on. So here I sit with my THIRD K/F which is a piece of garbage as well. It freezes continually, has limited volume control (watching videos purchased from Amazon), and drops wi-fi three or four times a day while in use for no reason (other than unit is as defective as the previous units). What is most upsetting is that Amazon is not even sending me a NEW Kindle Fire; instead I am getting refurbished units. (No wonder there are so many issues.) Amazon step up and do the right thing; live up to your A-Z guarantee and put customer satisfaction 1st.

This is my scend Kindle Fire first lasted about seven mounths and this one only about three weeks. They have a big problem with the charging / interface plug, both of mine had the same problam. I sent mine back for a refund last week so I can take the money anb put it toward somthing that works. I would NOT buy this Kindle or recomend it to any one. Vary bad product!!!!!
