I stumbled across a review of Leni Sterns "Kindness of Strangers" on NPR. Thank you NPR! They played just a few snippets but I was instantly transfixed with her tender, soulful voice, unique orchestrations and guitar flourishes. To me, she is utterly unique, almost unclassifiable if you will. It's jazz, folk, pop and the panorama of sweeping orchestration all blended together with skill. Stern's voice is immediately truthful, seductive and full of feeling. The tracks are transfused with emotion, some uplifting, some sad, some full of nostalgia but never dark. You almost feel as if Stern has "seen it all" and yet has found a way of expressing in her music the acceptance and celebration of all things in life. Highly recommended!

Thanks to serendipity I came across Ms. Stern's album recently, and I realize I have to get all her other albums. Her soulfulness, her candid and natural sensibility in her lyric writing and her musicality is intoxicating and beautiful. She touched me she did.
