5.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Wood's 'Kindred'
Kindred is the third CD by Kevin Wood that I've purchased and they seem to get better with each new release. Though different from Sacred, the pieces on Kindred are just as thought provoking and ethereal as his other compositions. It isn't too difficult for me to sense his warmth and depth of soul to be able to please our ears the way his music does. And isn't that what...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
When I bought "Scenic Listening" and "Sacred" I was blown away by the beauty and deepness of the music. But this album is so different, it's not New Age it's just an ordinary world music. There are a lot of tribal chants but musical compositions are not good at all, I miss the great and deep music and style in Scenic Listening, I hope Mr.Wood will go back to the style in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Wood hits on all cylinders with Kindred, April 17, 2008
This review is from: Kindred (Audio CD)
I've been an avid listener of all types of music over all these years and have found that Kevin is 'right on' target with his smooth, warm, flowing earthly tones in Kindred that captures both the native American Southwest with a hint of international flair found in Celtic music. His music is almost mesmerizing to the point that if let your mind drift, even just a little, one could escape into a sensual wooing of sorts and that's a good thing. This one's a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Wood Keeps Getting Better, April 10, 2008
This review is from: Kindred (Audio CD)
I trusted "Kindred", Kevin Wood's third album, would be as inventive, relaxing, uplifting, and modern as both "Scenic Listening" and "Sacred", his first two offerings. It is all of these. Wood apparently just keeps getting better as he goes. The songs are more piano chord-based than his previous works, the vocals/chants rich and gorgeous, and the rhythm tracks catchy! The songs are connected by a common theme of connectedness: the idea that all people and the earth share a common origin and our destinies are intertwined. I have personally found Wood's music effective for easing stress, elevating mood, soothing heartache and locating a place of inner peace. "Kindred" like its predecessors is excellent for these. You will be awed by the sheer beauty of the songs and sounds, as well as the higher-self feelings both elicit.

5.0 out of 5 stars A CD that has had a permanent place in my CD player since it was releassed., September 17, 2008

There are those CD's that find a permanent place in your CD player. After listening to "Kindred", you may just feel as I do and not take this CD out of your player for quite some time. "Kindred" is the third release from Kevin Wood, which again showcases his talents for composing, performing and producing a wonderful selection of music.

"Kindred" is a beautiful combination of relaxing rhythms, lush orchestrations and soft melodies that can take a person away from the stresses of the day. Wood uses more melodic vocal tracks in his songs than he did with his previous two releases; "Scenic Listening" and "Sacred." The vocal melodies and chants are from a variety of traditional musical such as Native American, Indian, Celtic, Gaelic and Gregorian. The vocal tracks are perfectly woven in with the instrumentals of this CD and provide a new sound for those listeners familiar with Wood's previous works.

For those people that are familiar with Wood's music, "Kindred" will be a welcomed addition to their collection. If you haven't yet heard Kevin Wood's music, then "Kindred" is a great piece for your first experience. Just place this CD in your player, sit back in your favorite chair and let the music take you to on a relaxing journey through your imagination.

...I am endlessly amazed by the scope and breadth of Kevin Wood's talents. He can really inject some powerful, healing vibes, your way, with his music. I'm really just an average soul who enjoys popping in a CD every now and then. But Kevin's music touches your heart in a special, profound way...

...and you'd be really missing out, if you decided not to give this Kindred CD a chance. Look at this CD cover, even that, is just something very magical. Believe me, I buy about $100 to $200 of CD's from Amazon every year, and this one, stands out, as the best. Thanks Kevin.
