There is much historical evidence for the Butler's depiction of slavery and its effects.
Kindred was a very interesting novel to read and it was one of the few books that I have read in a while that I could hardly put down.
The story is peopled with well-developed characters who have complex, interconnected relationships.
I picked this book up expecting science fiction but really it's a historical novel using time travel as narrative vehicle.
Very good book, a quick read on a heavy subject.
