5.0 out of 5 stars Kinect game for kids done right! September 18, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I just finished an hour of playing this Interactive TV show with my four-year old daughter. First of all, the game actually works! This should be a given with any game, but so many Kinect games simply have poor motion detection. This one is very sensitive, which is great when you have young kids who are not extremely adept at maneuvering. One segment has a mirror appear on screen, reflects your child and then the character on-screen changes into a shirt that matches the color of the shirt your child is wearing. This impressed even a hard-core gamer such as myself. As with any Kinect game, being in a well-lit room is required.

The interactive TV shows are very entertaining. There is more watching than interacting, but it this billed as an interactive TV show more than it is a game, so I'll not dock it for that. The graphics are great, audio is excellent and, again, the controls work very well. There are two discs of content and each show has a good number of chapters which you can stop and restart at any time. If you have a Kinect and have kids who love Sesame Street, this is a must have "Game". You will have a blast watching your kids interact with their favorite characters, yell and point when they see clues they are told to look for and clap with excitement when their favorite character appears on screen to play with them. My daughter loves it, she is pulling at me to play more as I type. Maybe one more round before bedtime... OK, so it is pretty fun for adults as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect first game for 2-6 year old children September 20, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is one of those things where once you see it, you immediately lament not having had it in your own childhood! The episodes can be enjoyed interactively, or passively, and are well thought out. The pacing of it even is simultaneously clever yet educational, for example there was one part of an episode which had my 2 year old jumping very actively, and the section immediately following had them stand still while the count, well, counted to a specific number. This is neither a "game" nor a "TV Show" but a really neat merging of the two in to something else entirely. Highly recommended.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My four year old loves this. It is the perfect blend of watching and playing. She can relax and enjoy watching Sesame Street and then throughout she gets to get up and interact with the characters oftentimes with her image superimposed on the scene. It's not as tiring or involved as the pure games but it is much more active and fun for them than just watching TV. I hope that this is the future of children's TV.

You get 8 episodes per season (there are currently 2 seasons); I believe that this will get you season 1. Rather than buying this disc, if your xbox has harddrive space, I would recommend that you just go download the free Sesame Street TV video app and then purchase the episodes or seasons you want. They will then stream to you or you can download them to your harddrive. Each episode is 400 points; each season is 2400 points.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interactive TV September 19, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This arrived in the mail just before bedtime and we tried out an episode. It is, as billed, not a game, but interactive TV which is really cool. It's mostly watching but with audience participation and you never know when you will appear on the screen. The motion sensor worked surprisingly well and shoots pictures and even places you into Elmo's World. My 4.5 year old loved it and the 1 year old gt excited too. All children's TV should be interactive like this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect educational game January 3, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I am involved professionally in the development of educational software and I have to say I am in absolute shock and awe of this product. Not only is this the best educational game I have ever seen preschoolers, it is the best use of the Kinect sensor ever. Ever since Kinect came out you knew this device had potential, but developers have taken a while to figure out just the right balance for this revolutionary controller. There were some nice tries with games like Kinectimals, Disneyland, Pixar ect. that while cool in design were a little lacking in the control department especially for preschool kids. This game nails it... Perfect subtle interaction that really gets kids into the learning, making the already great Sesame Street segments that much better. Beta tested this sucker on my 3 year old... She got it right away and loves playing it over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars my 5 year old likes it more than the Once Upon September 22, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Our 'Once Upon a Monster' has been collecting dust but this interactive TV show plus mini-games is much more fun for my 5 year old. Plan to buy others as well as more are available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked a lot better than expected! November 15, 2012
By Bri
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My 2 1/2 year old is a huge fan of Sesame Street, and this is a good way to get her active while watching her favorite show. Because of her age I was concerned that the Kinect would have trouble tracking her movement, but so far it's worked out perfectly.

The first couple times you play/watch/interact with the game, I would recommend sitting on the sidelines, just outside the view of what the Kinect sees. That way if your kid starts to wander, or jumps out of view (believe me, they do get excited playing this, and this does happen) you can quickly show them where to stand again. There is also a 'mirror' in the beginning of the game that helps your child align themselves with the Kinect, and gives them a good idea where to stand.

The games are fun, there's an album to save your pictures and small clips that were recorded during the game. Keep in mind, there is a lot of watching compared to the interactive parts. Like mentioned in previous reviews, it's not exclusively a game or just normal episodes, but a hybrid of both.

So far, there's also a good mix of characters, the game doesn't revolve around Elmo 90% of the time, although there is Elmo's world. There's Telly, Baby Bear, Grover, The Count...etc, that you can play games with.

Definitely a good game to start your kids out with, and give them a feel for playing with the Kinect. I'm pretty sure if we get Kinectimals or a similar game, our daughter will have a better idea of the whole "play style" that's involved.

My kids love this game. The sensor calibration also seems to be very lenient, which makes it so it actually works when kids are playing it. Must buy for any kids between 3 - 5
