This review is from: Kinesio Tex Gold Tape - 2" W x 16.4' L - Water Resistant - Single Roll - Beige (Misc.)
I discovered Kinesiotape through an ad online, and after some research, decided it was worth a try. It is definitely worth a try and worth the money! I have multiple joint injuries which cause recurring problems, and this tape works wonders! For years I have used braces, Ace bandages, and standard athletic tape, but they all have their drawbacks--braces and elastic bandages restrict circulation and movement, and standard athletic tape immobilizes the affected area, which is fine for an initial injury, but for a re-injury or chronic condition, it can hinder healing by preventing muscles and ligaments from gaining strength. Kinesiotape flexes with your muscles, and if applied correctly, it doesn't wrinkle and bunch. It provides much more support than it would appear from the way it is applied (along the muscle fiber, not a "figure eight" around the joint) It also appears to aid in circulation and reduce swelling as claimed, and it helps get my knee and ankle back in line when they have been locking up.
That said, it is a MUST to learn to apply the tape correctly, either from a chiropractor, physical therapist, or from the many online demonstration videos, if you are able to learn in that way. I can see how incorrectly applied tape could do nothing for a condition, or give a sense of false security. There is certainly an element of trial and error, but I think a good starting point is essential. It also helps to have an understanding of how your body works, how your muscles and ligaments operate, and how your condition disrupts that operation. For anyone willing to take the time to learn the correct application, or for professionals looking for additional ways to help their clients/patients, I would definitely recommend this product!

This is exactly the same tape and same brand of it that the physical therapists were using on me when I was introduced to the benefits of Kinesio taping methods.

Great if you don't sweat. Good if you sweat a little.,

The tape was effective in helping stabilize my patella. Though, it wasn't the miracle tape that some consumers experienced (it could be related to my first point), it cut down my knee inflammation and pain by at least 40%. Certainly, the tape is no substitute for working knees. But human limitations being what they are, this tape is a great product in the sense that it does what it should. BUT, there are several drawbacks that you should know about.
1) If you don't use it perfectly (i.e. tape & reinforce in the appropriate areas), its effectiveness is diminished or nullified. So, you have to have a good understanding of anatomy. 2) If you sweat, don't. The blue tape will sweat off. The way to keep it from doing that is reinforcing it with strips holding down the anchors (i.e. the ends). It's a waste of tape, but it's the only way I've found to be effective. I don't think I produce more sweat than the average woman. So, if you do, try the black tape. I'm not able to confirm if it's more sweat-proof, but companies swear the black one has the strongest adhesive. 3) It's sensitive to changes in the weather. It will unfurl or unstick itself in hot or humid areas. Make sure you don't leave the tape in your gym bag or bathroom because it may warp it. Other than these three drawbacks, it's an effective product.

I've always gotten shin splints from running; regardless of shoe, surface or speed. I started running again recently after a few years off and after gaining about 25 pounds on a weightlifting regimen. The shin splints were back with a vengeance; I could barely get a mile in (and this at a laughably slow pace)before I had to throw in the towel. After trying all the typical remedies (stretching, proper hydration, starting out slow to warm up the muscles...the combination of which worked worked to an extent), I decided to try the Kinesio tape on a friend's recommendation. I'm not gonna say 'miracle cure', but it certainly helped to a degree I definitely did not expect from what appears to be simple athletic tape with a wavy texture on the adhesive side. I'm no longer limited by my pain tolerance, but conditioning (which is awful at this point, but at least I can complete a 5k without wanting to sever my legs).

This time I've bought Kinesio Tape Beige color from the same company I've bought Kinesio Tape Black. I was very happy with with Black one.
The Kinesio Tape Beige is different according to my experience. It doesn't stay long and falls off fast. In addition it's hard to cut it. The Kinesio Tape Black is much better. I am not happy with Beige one.

This is a great product if you have an injury that requires such a tape. I was given a sample of the tape from an OT who thought it would work for me. I was unable to find Kinesio tape locally; found it on-line and received quick delivery from this vendor. Thanks Advantage Medical!

I have an arm injury and my physical therapist uses this tape on my arm. I was relieved of pain and aching, and felt the best I had felt in months. Once the tape was removed, I still felt so much better than I did before. I love this stuff! I think I might become addicted to it.

Kinesio Black Tape Works Wonders,
This review is from: Kinesio Tex Gold Tape - 2" W x 16.4' L - Water Resistant - Single Roll - Beige (Misc.)
After trying the traditional methods of treating Plantar Fasciitis, and reading reviews about this tape, I decided to give it a try. I must admit that I was a bit of a skeptic. I applied it accordingly (check Runners World website for taping methods) it really worked remarkably. I feel that it has helped alleviate the pain. Currently training for the Boston marathon, I felt that I needed something to jumpstart the process and this certainly has helped, along with the traditional icing, stretching, etc. This tape is not a cure-all in any way, but I definitely noticed results. It also stays on for several days.

The tape does not come in the packaging shown, and the role is only about 2 and a half inches across - so it's not as good a deal as I thought. But, the tape is great and really helps my knee pain.
